I just bought a 01 ls8 last week that is .I know how to make it look good but Im gonna need help on the performance !I love cars but dont know a whole lot on the mechanical side .I would love to hear some tips on some stuff I could do to boost the performance .

Best bang for my money of course ! but could really use some suggestions I dont know where to start ?
Im thinking exhaust ?but not sure .......I love my new ride and have already begun to dump money in it !I look forward to talking with you guys@

Xcal2, intake, exhaust... ppl say it will put u at around 300hp and u should be running mid 14's... i dont have any of them yet so i can say howmuch it will actualy help.. altho i am ordering xcal2 this friday ;)

For those three mods together, itll run you about...1200-1500. NOt bad for what yoou are getting. If you buy the exhaust go for the magnaflow catback, it sounds real nice.

You can order the exhaust and the KKM intake at www.lskoncepts.com

Thanks guys !

on the xcal2 ,would I just use the same inputs as other ls owners or is each car diffaerent in that aspect ?

I think thats a start ,I'll get those three then decide that I want more (of course) .............next .
Do any of yu know if 20's rub and how is the ride on 20's compare to 18's ?? What size tires do you suggest for 20's

This guy has a 2001, those mods arent going to put him at 300 hp. If he's lucky he'll come close to a stock 03+.

Those mods should but him past an 03up a little. I consider my 02 to be real close to 03up performance and with the LSK Intake and the Magna-Flow exhaust. I guess about about 270-280ish. With the Xcal2, 285-295 is realistic. My timeslips are proof. Mid 14s are a stretch for a 00-02, high 14s are do-able.

do 01 and 02 have same hp or is it true that 02 has more hp but they just put 252 and 260tq??? and why would a 03 be so much faster i just dont get it... im guessing 02 with intake and exhaust should have more then 280 hp..

00-02 all have same hp and torque when it comes to the V-8, 252hp as far as I know. 03up have different intake, exhaust, VVT and probably some other things to make them 280 hp stock. So they have a head start on hp. I figure the LSK intake and exhaust to be between 10-15hp each. Roughly 25hp combined, making my 02 close to but probably short of 280. The 03up is geared with 3.58s instead on the 3.31s most 00-02s got. Slight difference there.

The V-6s went up in hp progressively thou the years 00-03.

That stuff will not get 300 horsepower on a 00-02. It will come close-ish, but not quite.

I would say that 290-ish would be a fairly accurate number to put a full bolt-on Gen 1 LS 8 at.
