Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, I just bought a 2000 Lincoln LS on Friday, let me tell you, sick car, I had a Lincoln Continental for a year and a half, sorry to say, but i wanted to get rid of it, beautiful ride but Lincoln LS was always my want ..

Car details,
2000
Midnight Gray Clearcoat Metallic
Mileage .. 70k
Trim Basic ( that mean its not the sport package or .. ? )

3.9 V8

----------------------------------------------

Its going back to the dealer tomorrow, I've noticed on the highway or even driving normal, i switch it to manual shift, it starts off at 2nd gear ( car is stopped when i switch it ) I think there is something wrong in the tranny, i got on the highway, this is automatic now, not doing it manually, driving normally car started to shake once it hit around 50 MPH, like it didnt know what gear to kick in, but car still runs and all ..

Other than that tranny problem which i think thats what it is, the car is perfect, not a dent, scratch, leather is perfect, interior is great.

Picture ! ..

7,500 ( with great negotiating )

I traded in the Continental

Without the trade about 12k original price tag.

If it's not a Sport the bumpers have been replaced. Only Sport model didn't have chrome strips on the bumpers.

The shaking could be the halfshafts, and starting off in 2nd gear in manual is normal. They did that to evade the gas guzzler tax IIRC.

oh, i saw a video on youtube and the guy starts off in 1st when hes manually shifting anyway getting onto the main purpose of this thread kinda ..

Halfshafts, not sure if my warrenty covers that, what is it, will it be expensive?

I mean its only when changing gear to gear is has problems, i say gear 4 on it has some problems.

Maybe because the car was in the lot for a while and no one drove it ? Should i wait a while longer before turning it in, or do it now because i just bought the car and they might accuse me of what ever it is?

take it in, longer you wait the more they will blame you.

i work at a dealership and hear this stuff all the time. if you have a warrenty you should be in the clear. if you bought it "AS IS".....in short...your F'd.

sorry bro, hope its not the later!

AS IS ? Whats that? =P

lol, yeah i bought it friday, hasn't even made a week yet.

and yes, i got warrenty on tranny, power tran, wheels, tires, all that good stuff for 4 years.

i like that color... looks like sport package to me, plus looks like all leather steering wheel which just adds to the sport package fact....

this forum comes in handy, i learned so much in a matter of hours, i didnt even know they had a sport package LS and a regular one lol ..

but yeah, i got the manuall shift all straigtend out, thanks for that link.

Now i just need to find out why is has problems going gear to gear going above 50 MPH ( automatically ) Like i said, maybe its because it was in the lot for soo long? I dunno, w/e im gonna get it checked out, i want my LS to be 100%, this car is too great to just let it go. lol

Trim Basic: I believe that means no moonroof and the stereo is probably cassette or cassette with cd changer in the glove box... Not positive what all isn't on a base LS. My '00 looks like yours but with chrome bumpers, rims, and the burl wood trim and of course the moonroof. Same color. My personal favorite LS color. Enjoy and prepare your bank account for repairs when that warranty expires.;) By the way you should find out if the coils and valve cover gaskets have been replaced as they are MUST haves on the first gens.

Solenoid packing, valve body, halfshafts.... I think they all might cause vibration and a humming noise.

alright guys, thanks a lot for all the help! Its monday morning and I'm on my way to the dealership

Welcome. You do have a sport package car, bumpers also the select shift on the tranny talk about it.

In manual mode it starts in second, but you can make it start if you press the gas pedal more than 60%.

went there this morning unfortunally my registration wasn't complete yet so they will look at it tomorrow. It just bugs me on the high way feels like its going to stall
