I know this may sting for some of you here, but first off, I'm a diehard Mopar guy. I have a 2004 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee with the 5.7l HEMI and that baby hauls! I have a major chunk of change in her form appearence mods to performance.

Now my mom has a 1998 Lincoln Mark 8 that she absolutely loves. The car she had before this was a 1997 Mark 8 :p We sold the first one to a friend of mine with 130k miles and she picked up the 98 with 60k miles. The previous owner was the first owner and it was an older man out of Texas who was having medical issues so he had to sell the car.

My moms birthday is coming up soon and I'd like to get her a little present. On my HEMI I have an electric cutout and mixed with the mods I have on that truck, that baby roars. She loves how loud it is, but she likes quiet vehicles more. I'm looking to just swap the muffler (or mufflers, I don't know a thing about these cars, sorry). I was thinking maybe magnaflow since I have that on my truck, but my dad has Borla on his 2010 Ram HEMI. Any help on what muffler is good on these cars would be great. It should give the car a nice roar, but NOT loud. I have no experience with trying to find good sounding but quiet mufflers haha.

There is only one issue that we are having with the car, and maybe someone here can help? The taillight that is on the truck is not working. Every time I plug it in, it will blow a fuse and the car won't come out of park without that fuse. I tried ordering a whole new taillight and used the wiring and electrics off the new one on her light bar, but that fired the fuses too. The light I bought was chrome trimmed, and hers was body matched (silver) so she didn't want the chrome on there. Any ideas? Not sure if this a common problem or not.

Sorry if either of these is a widely discussed topin, I looked but didn't see much. Thanks! :D

Welcome and MOPARS are cool. For muffs I went Magnaflow str8 thru type they flow great and sound sweet. For the rear "Neon" search for "glitch" ballast and someone just posted a resistor fix or something. Your mom has very good taste by the way!!

Got any pics of her Mark? Sure would love to see it as would many here I'm sure.

Where can i find those mufflers? I'd like to get them, are they aggressive ?

I eat hemis for breakfast!

I have no cats, so they won't get stuck in the Mark's stomach. :D

Seriously, welcome though to the OP. Not a big fan of Mopar. The only modern Hemi that has impressed me was a guy at the track last year with a newer Dodge Challenger. He had 600hp badges on the side. Thought nothing special of the car really even with a little blower noise until he made a 10.20 pass in it. I was blown away. He made a few passes and loaded it up on the trailer and went home like nothing happened. Couldn't recall if he had a cage in it, but that may have been the reason for his early departure. :D

Welcome! I was a mopar nut before I realized id never own a classic mopar if I wanted to eat or have clothes...... just tooo expensive... so mustangs were my new drug

Oh, and I also love magnaflows

+1 on the short for the neon

Sounds like your mother has a Silver LSC which has dual exhaust and makes a difference on mufflers and the sound of the exhaust over the base model when you read through the forum and listen to sound clips.

You have 3 catalytic converters and two mufflers on her car.

Most replace the 3rd cat with an x pipe, double x pipe, or an X through muffler or you can leave it.

Then the rear two mufflers with a muffler of your choice.

Alot of people have had good luck with Magnaflow. I like them, most other mufflers out there do not sound right, but your choice of the number of magna flow mufflers, followed by the # of cats make any mark sound great even with Kooks headers where some complain they are to noisy without the front two cats or high flows.

Quiet muffler with little rumble while cruising but sounds great @ WOT

Not all mufflers out there sound good on these cars the way the exhaust is routed combined with the DOHC makes them sound completely different then mustangs, because they are. Some mufflers and exhaust choices can cause a very RASPY and horrible fart can sounding exhaust.

All Mopar haters just remember, Mopar or no car! EVERY type of vehicle I've ever raced, has lost miserably. I only will take it up to the speed limit though. Cops hate pretty hard on me being a young kid driving a solar yellow HEMI ;) my next purchase will be a SRT-10 Ram.

I will say that I would take any ford or Lincoln over ANY foreign made vehicle. I can't stand them one bit whether it be a Ferrari or a Honda. My motto is that my HEMI burns what your hybrid saves. :p

Now back on topic. I'll look at the connection in a few days when I have time. I'm thinking magnaflow is what I'll get, but I haven't the slightest idea of which one. I believe it is an LSC model. Being that this cars value really isn't, I don't want to spend much on it. I'm using the car as a daily driver right now to save the miles on my baby. I'm just looking for a muffler only, as it's not my car in the first place and I'm the only one in the family that is a mod freak. Just trying to put a smile on my moms face for her b-day and make the car bearable to drive as long as I am driving it.

I will probibly be the next owner of the car. My dad is thinking about getting here a new car (the new challenger, I sort of rub off on everyone haha) and they will just gift the car to me to use as a daily driver. I will admit thoug, for a ford and an old one at that, the car does have a bit of a gitty up. I just prefer the visibility of a truck in being higher up so I can see what's going on around me.

So what size magnaflow? I have a 18" on my truck and a buddie has a 14" (IMO its too loud for having a muffler. I set mine up so when I'm running the cuout open it's loud, and when it's closed I still have a food roar but not loud). The 18" that I have would be far too loud for what I'm looking at on the Lincoln I believe.

I forgot to mention that the mark has all the trimmings (I think, not sure what all the option were). Heated seats, sunroof, color matched trim and the dead weight of a car phone. I'm also thinking about 5% on the back 2 windows and the eyebrow.

What are the stock headlights? HID or what? And whats up with the high beams? They have that nice blue tint and the highs to hardly anything but add the ugly yellowish light. Hardly bright enough to call high beams.

Bee make sure you correct your moms rims for her. You have some in wrong places. The swoops all should be swooping back at top of rim. You need to swap drivers front with pass rear.

I'd take you on a light to light with my f150! Make a 0-60 vid we will compare!

I have been noticing that for a while. They need to be rotated too I think. I'm looking for a set of wheels for my Bee and I am making sure I stay away from anything that would do this.

You sure? I have a lot of money in that truck. This summer I'm getting upwards of $5k just in engine mods, then I have to get the gears to go with it and a custom tune on top of that.

I don't race though. Got a ticket one for doing the freakin speed limit (long story) so I don't do any racing since then and I am not going to give a cop a reason to pull me over.

Anyone here with a recommendation on the muffler? Size, if it should be off set, ect. I just checked and it is an LSC.

My mufflers that went to my '97.......also an LSC like yours

I originally chose the Borlas but my wife who is also a speed freak, loves the sound of the Magnaflows better. Both are good choices. Borlas were loud but had a bit of a higher tone and were a few dBs louder than Magnaflows.

The Magnaflows were the right choice for the Mark with a lower, deeper tone at idle, Sounds aggresive and loud enough to give you goosebumps when you mash the accelerator.

I'm in Modesto, and just replaced the inverter on my 98 LSC. if I can be of some help with that, let me know.
