After running out of gas while driving (because my fuel gauge was broke) I decided to get out of that crapillac i was driving (98 deville) and get my ass into an LS finally. Unfortunately it is only now that i realize that i should have bought one of these a long time ago. Though i was completely satisfied with my Continental... (lost in divorce and job lol) I really like this car. It feels good to be in a Lincoln again! Just have to wait for the dealer to get the title work so i can get my original keys and remotes.

The LS is one of those cars you need to drive to understand

Exactly. When I bought my LS it was so unexpected. I went on knowing what a LS was but never payed any attention to them.

I was in the market for cars that are totally opposite from a American made Luxury car.

I saw it, I drove, I had to keep it.

Same here. I haven't driven anything like it yet. I've always had big cars. I find it really hard to NOT speed in this car. Its an 00 with a V8.. Maroon, Fully loaded (so I'm told) I already know i'm going to have to take it apart and figure out what the last owner did to it... I can tell the prev owner had an aftermarket stereo in it... all my door speakers don't work, but the 2 under the stereo and the 2 subs work, i'm guessing they didn't hook the wires back up to the factory harness? and all but one of my trunk lights dont work. (only the driver side brake light works) I dont know if its a coincidence that these bulbs all blew at the same time or if there is a loose connection somewhere. Also a piece of my front bumper is missing... right next to the passenger side fog light... it looks like it just snaps in (not broke) so i wonder what it would cost me to get that piece. I'll try to get some pics up on here and my profile soon. But I love the car so far anyway. :)

I just bought that bumper piece for my 01 maroon lol..it cost me about 60 bucks at the ford dealer but now i got to get it painted.

Nice info, i havn't even started looking yet. thanks... and Jesus you guys reply fast... I tried getting support on the deville forum and it took me like a month to get a reply and didn't get any help anyway lol.

welcome. and that's Lincoln pride man. i seen some lady in a LS today at the gas station and waved. she got out and started talking to me. shes like I LOVE MY CAR!! i was like me too! lol. i beep at every LS i go by.

I agree... I've always felt that Cadillac drivers were always in competition with each other and Lincoln drivers were more like a team, or family. Just my opinion. :P

I was looking for a Mark viii when i was car shopping but there were none in my area. I had a choice between a 98 BMW 528i, 98 Infinity Q45, and the LS. Test drove all and liked the LS best. Oh and the dealer called me today and told me that i can pick up my missing bumper piece tomorrow. So thats gonna save me some cash.

Ok, i can't believe that all the lights on my trunk lid (except one) is burnt out... Is there a fuse or something that controls all of these lights? My reverse lights don't work, and the center brake light in the rear window. I don't know how to take out all the lights yet to see if they're burnt, i'm to scared to brake something lol

That's why you gotta inspect a car before you buy :P

Hmm... i guess lighting was one thing i forgot to check... what can i say? i was excited! lol. anyway. i seem to recall the dealer saying something about it just getting detailed when i went to pick it up... windows were all foggy and condensation in the headlamps after that... maybe some moisture caused a short somewhere? The car isnt yellin at me about the lights being out at all. unless it just monitors the vitals?. I'm going back to the dealer tomorrow for my missing bumper piece anyway. im going to ask em about it.

hmmm that makes me think your right cause in this video some guy is saying how he was in his CTS and a XLR drove up and just flipped him off or gave thumbs down...kinda weird??

RICEKILLER.COM - Budget Turbo Honda VS 500+hp CTS-- Video

light condensation is a common problem. start pulling fuses and check that they are all working. get your manual and cross-reference your fuses. the moisture build up in the headlight is fixable. for all but one tail light to be out it might be electrical. get the one bulb and put it on the other side. to take out the tail lights just open the trunk, pull back the trunk liner and there are 3 bolts you take out for the outside ones. for the inside ones there are 2 bolts. that being said, you do not need to take out your tail lights to check the bulbs :D

Awesome info, thank you. That will be what i'm workin on this weekend. And I agree, that video was awesome. I guess that proves that $$$$ doesn't = speed lol

I traded out of a 97 STS for mine. :D Still mass the old caddy every now and then, but god am I glad I don't have to work on that damn thing anymore!

When you look like that fool, and you drive a car that looks like that fools, you deserve it.

Ok, well, it turns out that all those lights were just burnt out... crazy. Got 'em replaced and they work fine. Except for the center window brake light, I haven't figured out how to change that one yet. As far as the moisture in my headlights go... the driver side is all cleared up and the passenger side is clearing up slowly. I've done nothing to them yet. Going to wait and see what happens next time i drive through the rain. Next I have to figure out why all my door speakers aren't working. Time to pull the radio.

i had this exact same problem when i bought mine. Keep an eye out for a new radio on ebay, fixed my issue perfectly.

Damn, that sucks. Would it be worth just getting an aftermarket unit then? Or are the stock Alpine units fairly inexpensive?

Never mind about the price... i finally seen 'em. Not to bad... but I still want to know if its worth replacing or getting an aftermarket.
