With this exhaust residue on the flange, does this look like it will need to be welded? I don't want to have to pull this manifold all of the way out. The EGR tube that is connected at the back looks TIGHT to get out.

I noticed you reposted this pic.
I hate to tell you, but it does look like you are getting some exhaust blow-by on that primary. Considering the primary next to it is clean, it seems that would be the case. Ideally you should pull the manifold off to get a good look. You MIGHT be able to weld what you can get to with the manifold in the car. No gaurantees that would solve your issue, could be a leak on top.
