Hey guys I did my rear spring conversion tonight and figured while the rear wheels are off I might as well put on the new rotors and pads I have had sitting here for a few months. I took the old rotor off and removed the caliper, I tried to reset the caliper and was unsuccessfull. I can't get the new pads and rotor on and now I can not even get the old pads and rotor on. Is there a trick to resetting the rear calipers??? I see the E-Brake spring, do I need to do something to that to release the caliper piston? I am in a bind and I need to leave soon and can not get the car back together to drive. Please help!

so I other words I am not going anywhere tonight... No body is open near me where I can buy that tool... fawk.

Do you have a 24/7 auto zone or checker nearby? The wharehouses here in PHX are open all the time and they may have a cheapy tool that may get you going. As a last resort, try the business end of a pair of needle nose pliers and try not to stab yourself in the hand to much. Push down hard and turn.

You could also use a pair of channel locks. I've read this in a post. You need to push back the rubber seal to keep it safe. Then grip the piston around the metal edge and twist it clock-wise to make it go back in. Remember to open the the brake fluid reservoir lid. AutoZone sells an $8 tool to do this job, but you'll have to file the pegs in order to make it work. You use a short extention and a 3/8 inch ratchet with it.

It's nice to have, but not necessary.

Bolt the caliper back on without the rotor on the hub, then use long-nose pliers to rotate the piston.

Autozone's doesn't fit, like you said you had to file the pegs.......

But, Oreilley's cube tool fits perfect.

Looks the same, but isn't.

Thanks guys, I did it last night with channel locks. After a burned arm, blistered and cut hand, I managed to get it done. But unfortuneatly it was too late at that point to go and meet up with the people I was supposed to meet up with. I appreciate the quick replies!
