need help with a couple questions

Having a few little minor annoyances with my LS since my purchase of it last October.

1) Is there anyway to stop the wiper from going off when the key is first inserted into the ignition?

2) I'm hearing a noise coming from the rear that increases ONLY as I turn the steering wheel right? Wheel bearing?

As for your wipers have you made sure that the wiper knob isn't turned on Auto?
