I flubbed up today. I was changing the coils on the pass. side, did driver's a few days ago, and broke some plastic hose. It runs into the throttle body on and looks something like a rubber bell. There is a piece of rubber hose that says "SMISSION FLUID" what the hell does that mean? Transmission fluid? Why does my tranny fluid run into the TB? Anyway, does anyone know the purpose of this hose or the part number?

No, it shouldn't be the EGR, I had that replaced maybe 15-18 months ago. I'll take a pic this afternoon.

The hose is probably rated to work with transmission fluid and oil etc. So that is why you see that label. They are probably using an oil resistant rubber sine it is in the engine compartment.

Somewhat educated guess is that this is a vacuum line or possibly a water coolant line to help heat up the TB.

If no water is coming out of it then my guess is vacuum line of some sort. If you can find the nipple it belongs on I would reconnect it.

My V8 has so much cowling you almost can't see the TB so no help from me.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson

Yeah, I think it's vacuum, there wasn't any water around it, I did see another line that I think is water. I've got it retro-engineered right now. Put some electrical tape on it, with paper clip splints for rigidity. Gonna take it to the stealership after work.

Took it to dealer, they didn't say what it was for, but they did give me a price - 29.01, with tax. Thank y'all for the responses.
