Hello everybody. I started replacing my spark plugs in my 2000 lincoln ls v6 today. The first 5 went easy but now i cannot get the 6th plug out. What can i do to get it out without stripping the threads.

What exactly do you mean by you can't get it out?

It's too hard to turn? -> You need a longer socket handle.

It turns but won't come out?

It feels really bad turning, so you stopped?

Was the engine cooled off before you started?

too hard too turn. wouldnt budge. 2 yrs ago my mechanic had the same problem with the same plug. cant ask him what he did to get it out because i have moved to another state

tried with engine cooled. then i tried after runnin for 20 min. but im sure it cooled some because i had to take intake off again

make sure you use ant-seize when you put them back in.

probably just need more torque (longer ratchet) somebody might have cross threaded it

Best bet is let some penetrating oil sopak in for awhile and a breaker bar or 1/2 drive but be cautious and start out with light pressure. Last thing you need is a broken plug.

Or thermal exspansion is your friend. Running the car won't help since the plug gets hot too. A torch around the plug if youre ballsy or a can of freeze off/computer electronics cleaner to the plug should work- definitely safer than torch. Good Luck
