The light is lit when I press it to ON but it doesn’t seem to circulate the air inside the cabin.
I did a search for blend door... I thought I read something about that at one time. But I come up empty.

Any ideas?

So, are you saying that air does not come out anywhere inside?
Did you check the defrost and the floor vents?
Have you tried it in both the recirculate and the fresh air settings?
Do you hear the blower running?

If you only get air on the recirculate position, when's the last time you changed the cabin air filter?

It's behaving odd. These are the steps I went through tonight...

• Tonight after work I started the car and the AC was on - left on from when I parked the car this morning.

• I could hear the compressor click on under the hood - the blower did not come on.

• The display said it was set to Auto at 60˚.

• Nothing was blowing anywhere.

• I turned off the AC.

• I heard the compressor shut off and the engine changed idle.

• I then pressed the "Auto" button with the setting set to 60˚ - same result - NOTHING.

• I shut everything off again - then turned the car off.

• Waited the few seconds and restarted the car.

• Pressed the "Vent" button selecting the "Dash Vent" setting.

• Nothing happened for a few seconds then the blower started blowing at it's highest setting (I had it set to this).

• Hot air was blowing out the vests (the outside temp read 113˚ - this is Texas).

• I then pressed the "AC" button.

• The compressor clicked on and it seemed to be working.

• I pressed the "Circulate" button and it seemed to be working.

• Drove home (45 minute drive).

• Shut everything off - then tuned it back on and it's working.

• I have not pressed the "Auto" button out of fear it will stop working all together.

Has anyone had this weirdness happen to them? It's freaking HOT in Texas right now and I need my AC to be as cold as possible.
Any ideas?

It may be that your blower motor or blower speed controller is failing. You could also run the DATC diagnostics to see if they turn up anything (It wouldn't detect a bad blower or controller).

Tried all the settings this morning as I was driving. Everything seems to be fine. Very odd.

About a year ago it did something weird too. I have not had any issues with it until now but the first time it acted up I had shut the car off and usually the air is suppose to stop blowing when you do this. It continued to blow air and the key had been removed. I started the car again and messed with things until I got it to shut off.

Now it did the weird not blowing thing. Is there something wrong electricly or is the control unit acting up?

Due to the new information, I now doubt that it is the blower motor itself.

I think that the main suspects (in order more or less of likelihood) would be...

Loose/damaged connector at the back of the DATC.

Loose/damaged connector at the blower speed controler.

Fault in the DATC.

Fault in the blower speed controller.

Short or open is the wiring between the DATC and the blower speed controller.

Went out for lunch and it is 103˚ in the shade today. Started the car and it did the same thing. Eventually it does come on but blows at a very low speed. Once the inside of the cabin cools off slightly, the blower starts to speed up and eventually runs at full speed. (I think)

What exactly is the DATC? Have no idea what that stands for - sorry.
Is this the control unit or could it be the blower motor dying?

The DATC (Dual Automatic Temperature Control) is the thing with the display and the buttons.
It could be any of the things I listed before, and maybe some more. It'd be better to get it properly diagnosed than to throw parts at it.

At least this gives me someplace to start with the Dealership. I have an extended warranty so it should be covered. I just looked up the price of a new unit... over 600.00

Holy Crap!

Thanks for your help.

The real expense is if it is the blower motor or the speed controller. The parts don't cost that much, but the dash has to come apart, the refrigerant has to the recovered then recharged, and the coolant has to be drained and replaced.

Got it fixed. It was the Blower motor - it was dying.

Total repair cost was 230.00 and some change. I paid my deductable (75.00). Not bad.
Nice and cold now... just wish mother nature would give Texas a break.

Good to hear. I had incorrectly assumed that blower motor replacement was as difficult as speed controller replacement. Clearly, it's not.
