I'm hoping someone can help me out here. Today I had to change out my power steering pump on my 02 LS with the 3.9L. Since I ha dto drop the ac compressor I went ahead and replace that since the clutch was alittle loose on it. Well I get everything back together, recharged the ac and went to turn it on to check it and guess what! The ac clutch would not engage!!

I went through and checked everything. Fuses and relays are fine, system is full of r134. So i thought maybe a bad compressor? I took a power probe the the compressor and the clutch engaged perfect! So for some reason the compressor is not getting power?

I know the ac pressor switch controls it but I'm not sure how the 3 wire switch works? Anyone know how to jump it to check and see if thats my problem? Please help since I have no defrost now either! Thanks, Jason

Did you pull a good vacuum on the system before you recharged it with R134?
How could you charge it to the correct level with the compressor running by the middle of the procedure?
Did you add compressor oil?

Yes pulled good vacuum on the system before we filled it.

The car filled to 1lb 3oz and would not fill any more. Thats when we started looking into it. Once we gave power to the compressor it filled up to the full 28ozs it needed.

And yes the right oil type and amount was added.
