One thing off the bat, is there are no wires to run the cd-rom drive to the trunk. Which leads me to believe some pigtail that plugs into teh head unit is probably missing also.

You might want him to take a picture of the back of the unit, and the pigtails that were attached to his LS, so you can compare what you have, and if they will mate up properly.

Oh, and I never knew that the stock nav unit was a Pioneer.

say are wiring doesnt match up... can it be bought from the dealer... i wonder is MAX from five Star will get us a wiring diagram or a parts list of whats needed for the swap... i will do this for 350 if in the end it will cost less then a DD deck!

At the least you need the display unit, the DVD/controller unit, the GPS antenna, a different rear view mirror (/w microphone in it), a different steering wheel (the audio buttons are different), and wiring.
If you don't already have sub-woofers and the two audio amps in the back, you will need that too.
I think it would be much more trouble than aftermarket.
For the dash unit, all the connectors to your factory radio will physically plug into the head unit. However, the connections are different, so it won't work without rewiring.
