Cruisin at 70mph *speed limit* on the way to see my girl 2hours away in springfield *i'm in kansas city*. Driven this route a thousand times and never seen a single deer... one hops out in front of me literally at the very last second, i had no time to react and this is the aftermath... radiator is :q:q:q:qed too..

So much for the Halos I put in less than a month ago... One is in tact but the other is totally demolished =x.

To top it off, I called FOMOCO for "emergency roadside assistance" they wouldn't tow it until I got a police report... got a state trooper there about 10minutes later... then almost an hourl ater the tow truck driver shows up... I ride with him back for an hour to my dealership I always go to. Full coverage for the win... 500$ deductible for the lose :(

Guess the eyebrows I got from Ken that arrived today ironically won't be of much use for awhile :(

Damn! sorry to hear that, gotta watch them deer out that way I go to Clinton a lot and one time there was one standing right on the shoulder thank god he stayed there until I passed

OUCH, i know how you feel, i have hit deer a few times and the results are not good, hopefully you can get it fixed soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO F-in way man tell the truth you hit a damn wall!!!!!! Thank good there are not but maybe 5 deer in all of orlando!!! I would have flipped out if that happened to me!!! Hope you can get something out of it!!! Let us know
(UPGRADE TIME) If the dealership can get you the money from your insurance buy some new stuff(grille and the ccfl's already done ) Im sure it cheaper than a new factory headlight!) good luck

P.S. Everyone else watch out for DDDDEEEEERRRRR

Hit a deer at 70mph? Wow, you were lucky: deer have a tendency to go through windshields in that sort of encounter. That's definitely a lose-lose situation for you and the deer. :(

My dad got hit by a deer a few years ago; he said that the only good thing about it was that deer-related collisions don't count as collisions for the purposes of raising your insurance rates, at least as far as State Farm is concerned in Oklahoma.

A friend of mine hit a deer at 50mph in his Subaru station wagon; the deer died, but it totalled the Subie. It was at dusk, so he claimed that he got in trouble spotlighting deer. :)

A co-worker hit a deer in her Honda Del Sol just as she got on the bridge across a local lake. After going the ~3/4mi across the bridge, she turned around and came back to check on the deer, but it was gone. It ruined her hood and driver's-side fender, but the deer walked (or, more likely, ran) away...

I dunno, everyone says "atleast I wasn't hurt" but I almost wish it had totalled it out.. I need to talk to the dealership and see if I can bring the receipt in for the halos and have them work with the insurance company to get me more $$ to replace them.. The dealership i go through is great, lots of my step-dads old friends he has known for 30+ years so we'll see.. atleast I get a new paint job =x

MAN those deer are not to f*ed with and its not usually just one I usually see one then two more are following, and totalling out your baby I tryed the same thing had mine for two months and went under the back of a f-150 some lady infront of him stopped too quick on the paseo bridge he almost nailed her and I hit the brakes abs kicked on and WHAM:Bang 7,000 in damage asked them if it could be totalled they said you 'd have to do about another 7,000 in damage first, took it to ace auto body they had flyin honors with progerssive so i figured it was ok, they did good with the mechanics but the paint sucked started cracking one week later I called insurance they said to take it back I told them I warned them I work at a sign shop and we do autobody grade finishes the guy didn't listen and told them I don't want that idiot touching it with a ten foot pole, took it to precision in pleasant valley another 4,000 later for them and they rocked no orange peel in the clear coat and you couldn't even see a transition from old to new. Cheap insurance though they wouldn't repaint the roof or mirrors so they look like poo thats ok though its getting a whole make over as soon as its payed off.:Beer :Beer

so car insurance will cover deer collisions? I always wondered about that- I have geico though, don't know if it makes a difference.

Who cares if Geico will cover that...the important thing is you saved a ton of money by switching to Geico!!!!

My sister's experience with Geico is that they don't pay jack, and dealing with them is a royal PITA.

BTW, if you are an auto enthusiast, you might want to read the following articles before going with Geico.

The Truth About GEICO

Some things to consider before you consider using Geico insurance
Geico invested heavily into Laser Tech, the leading traffic LIDAR manufacturer
Geico gives away radar and laser units to any police agency that wants to write more tickets
Geico testified before legislatures that we don't need/deserve certain rights and has canceled policies of people who admitted to owning LEGAL radar detectors
Geico is a founding member of Insurance Institute for Highway Safety that among other things still claims we'd be better off if we kept 55, ignoring the 9th straight year of fatality rate drops.

man ive hit 2 deers. one in my old diamante, 2300 worth of damage. then the next i was going to the clubs with a buddy. and was oging bout 75 and sa it out of the corner of my eye and smashed it in my exploder. that was about 1700 worth of damage. i have terrible luck with deer.

OUCH! That hurts my eyes! Gladly you were OK. You can repair your LS. Keep us updated on your progress.

Was told that the insurance company has to repair the car as it was. So if I bring a reciept of the Halos' they have to repair those... and I'm gonna talk to the guys at the dealerhsip to see if they can get me a LSE front bumper instead of the regular one =p.

Only problem is I don't have th ereceipt for the halos... gotta figure that out :(

That looks bad. Luckily it didn't come through the windshield. In Pennsylvania people have been killed when the deer came through the windshield. Hopefully you got a few good meals out of the incident :)

Surely you have pictures of the car with the halos installed--and the other side still has them, so there shouldn't be any need for a receipt. Also, the remains of the passenger side halos should still be there in the smashed housing. That should be more than enough evidence, so producing a receipt should be redundant.

That's another good thing about collisions with deer. In Oklahoma, the driver gets the option to keep the deer, but if he doesn't, they take it, butcher it, and give it to poor people (maybe a local homeless shelter, but I don't remember).

I wonder if I can convince the guys at the body shop to put an LSE front bumper on instead of the usual one and if it costs more *which I doubt it will* I just pay the difference hehe

Go ahead and get the LSE front bumper, you are going to need one anyway!!!!

Talked to the auto body shop manager and he said there shouldn't be a problem since, oddly enough, the LSE bumper is like 60$ cheaper for them then the stock one. I'm wondering if I can just get hte estimate, have insurance pay me all of it, including the halos, then take what I have extra and just buy an LSE kit to put on when they fix it =P
