my baby is cutting off while i drive

my 02 LS doenst start right away, cuts off and on while im driving, lights on the dash all come on! the cruise button has been malfunctioning for a few months now. could that have started the ball rolling on an electrical problem??
i have 3 boys to drive around all day! i cant be without my baby!!!
now... i've fixed two of my other cars myself in the past, but this is new to me....
any advice?

if the lights on your dash are coming on then you will have to have them read. although having the lights might seem like a bad thing it really isn't, it helps to tell you what specifically is wrong with the car. the real problem is when there is no CEL and your car is acting up. it sounds electrical to me but it can be absolutely anything

if i do a diagnostic will that tell me if its electrical or not? whoops i mean rick lol

if you use a scanner it should tell you exactly what it is unless it's a real cheap scanner (like mine, lol). mine only tells me the misfires, which yours probably has, and also cats and other minor things. other than that i'm not sure what those good mechanic scanners or stealership scanners pick up. definitely the place to start though. let us know as you progress and what other symptoms your LS might have
