I figured I would just try to make a thread for all the questions i come across when swapping interior and other parts from a v6 to my 2001 v8 base model. The v6 I am using for parts has many upgrades that I will need info on while doing the switch because my v8 didnt come equipped with many of the features I want to add. Heated seats and alpine head unit with amplifier are the two things I've come across so far that I'd like input on. If anybody has swapped seats from no heat to heat, all advise and tips on the process are welcome. And my v8 has a base model stereo and the v6 has tweeters and I found an amp under the dash to go along with the alpine stereo system. But when I looked on my v8 i expected to find either an amp if nothing else a blank spot with an unused plug. I only found an empty spot. Lol. So any guidance on how to add this amp would be appreciated. I'm sure I'll have many other questions to bug you guys with as my progress continues. Thanks in advance

Get the service manuals and the wiring book. It'll be tough.
Heated seats are actually controlled by the DATC. Though the control may very well be routed through another module (FEM? whatever the one in the driver's door is called?).

The LS's systems are very tightly integrated, so this may be very difficult to impossible without moving *all* of the wiring and modules (including dash) and reprogramming the PCM. Which isn't possible without the dealer's tools. Might not even be possible with their tools.

Well that's disappointing to hear. What do you think about just adding the element and the button and then wiring the button with a jumped fuse/ added relay to either an adjustable output knob or even just a simple on/ off rocker switch and choose to have it either on or off?

I'll have to check, but I don't think that the FEM (Front Electronics Module) has anything to do with gen I heated seats. Certainly, the DDM (Driver's Door Module) does not. The DSM (Driver's Seat Module) probably does.

I don't think that you'd have to move any other modules. In fact, you really wouldn't want to move the cluster, since the donor one doesn't have the message center. There should be no trouble swapping the seat module, and (if needed) the DATC.
The DCCV should be the same V6 or V8, but is different from one generation to the next. (Or is that the other way around?) Any way, if it has the same number of hose connections, you are good to go.

I would not bypass the electronics for controlling the heater elements. They have some time based protections built-in.

On the radio, you'll have to swap some of the wiring harnesses, but it should work okay.
