First off, I'd like to say thank you to the whole LVC community!

I've been reading this forum for well over three years! Never had the need to join/ask questions as I figured it all out from the vast knowledge here. Spent countless hours scouring these forums and I've got to say there are some characters on here. Read so much I feel like I know you guys, lol. So, I figured I join and share my LS's story.

My first LS was a 00 LS8 black on black 113,000 miles (sport model) when bought for 6K (in 2008), drove for six months hit a deer and put in a ditch. Needed front clip and rear bumper, condenser.... Needless to say I parked her and turned it into a parts car, after my only set of keys was lost!! (not by me)

Came across my current LS, while looking for headlights, bumper, etc.. on ebay for wrecked LS.. 00 LS8 black on black 33,000 miles (base model) w 20" Cattivo's (sorry no pics on car lost sd card many moons ago) for 7400 w the stockers was overjoyed to say the least.:D

Just turned 94,000 miles and running strong! Took rims off at about 40K and did rotors and pads all around (never put rims back on).

Around 50K did coils, plugs, fuel filter, rear driver wheel bearing, sway bar links. She gave me about 30K more before any trouble.

Goodyear triple tread tires at 80K.

Front suspension overhaul at 85K tie rods, shock absorbers, upper control arm, lower ball joints.. no sway bar bushings tho.. oops. Had a friend w a lift that did it all for 300 labor!:)

Then the infamous overheating!!
Degas, dccv, jag cooling tower, and coolant outlet pipe solved my problem! Those rear bolts sucked!
Probably do the upper and lower rad hoses soon.(I broke the petcock valve too! even after reading not to over tighten!! Pump actuator will probably fail sometime soon too! lol

Also had the evaporator core replaced last month. My first dealer experience haha. Need my a/c now that I'm in Florida. Didn't even want to attempt some things are just better paid for..lol $1200 out the door..
Compressor is on its way out, not leaking oil tho, seems as if it is seeping suva from the front behind the clutch seal?

Next up will be plugs/coils again, VCG, and rear suspension (shocks, lateral links, and sway bar links.), fuel filter and random other general maintenance that you guys recommend??? I'm open to suggestions!!:D
Haven't had any tranny problems but I'm sure its time for fluid/filter/solenoid.

I've been drooling over everyone's mods here for years, but have always put mechanical first!
My LS is very happy at the moment.. Now it's time for some mods!:D

Did I leave anything out? lol sorry for long post. Ill post a pic later got to go to work!

Welcome to LVC, officially. Sounds like you know all the stuff you need to know in order to own an LS. Now you just need to post some pics!

Welcome to LVC! I'd be completely lost if it wasn't for the help of the guys on this forum, so (as you've known for three years now) you're in the right place! Looking forward to seeing pictures!

Thanks for being a great guy.

This is a much better way to join the community than those people who join and there first post is a question about a problem they have that has been covered 100 times before. I'm glad you were able to search the forum for the past few years to get ideas an answers to your questions. Very honorable.

Welcome welcome welcome!
