Hey Everyone,
I was heading home tonight in My 2000 LS8 and was rolling about 55 down the highway and kicked it down to 65 and all of a sudden the engine died on me so I put it in neutral and tried firing it back up. It would not start but I luckily coasted it into my driveway. The battery light, and check engine light came on when it died. I parked it and went and checked the battery connections and they were all tight. Next I cranked it 3 times and finally got it fired back up. I did the status check and it said my charging system was good and it had enough power to crank it so I figured my problem isn't there. Any suggestions as to what it could be? The check engine light is no longer on now that it started again. Thanks ahead of time and hope to get some advice.

How old are the coils? Often when the car senses a problem it will shut down the engine in order to not f*ck itself up (an ingenious idea I might add) and for instance it did those same things to me when my coils were fried (4 of them) and also happened to me when I put my KKM CAI on but forgot to tighten the bolts so it fell of after hitting a speed bump in my neighborhood. Thankully nothing damaged but I think my MAF is a lil oddity

Well I just picked up this car 2 months ago and they had no record of ever changing the coils on it. How would I test to see which ones are bad? I have noticed it chuggin up hills a few weeks ago but it seemed to work itself out. Hadn't had a problem since then. I'm guessing coils would of been my lack of power there too.

take it to a firestone and have them check the coils that's how I got mine and it was a 20-35 dollar check...sad thing is shops will charge you up the @ss for new coils, so best to do a DIY

another one bites the dust! and another ones down another ones down another one bites the dust!!!

You got a 2000 LS8 with possibly stock coils...Do yourself a favor go on ebay and buy the full 8 coil kit. its alot cheaper then youll find anywhere else..bout 220$ change them all out. one thing ive noticed is that its alot easier to replace them all, rather then one at a time. if you do them one at a time youll be doing it for the rest of the time you own the car, every month or so. Just buy 8 new ones, put em in yourself...its easy.

Oh don't go rest in peacing my 2000 ls. She has a hell of a lot more miles to put on before she bites the dust. Sounds good on the coils though. I drove it probably 75 miles today no problem but im still gonna swap out the coil packs. I'm no stranger to them seeing how I had to purchase 10 of them and replace them on my 1999 F250 with the V10 in it. I made the mistake of washing the engine on it not realizing what I was doing at the time. Thanks for the advice.
