I have had bad luck on other vehicles with "store brand" pads. I have Pep Boys Ceramics on my 2004 and they squeeal EVERY time I touch the brakes for as long as I touch them. I sound like one of those commuter trains when I stop. One advantage is they don't put out any dust.
To be fair, I did not resurface the rotor so it could be the surface is not adequate for these pads.
I just did a brake job on my wife's Mercury van and used Rabestos Ceramics and it is beautiful. I have never had a problem with Raybestos and I have been doing my own brakes since 1975. If I have problems with noise it is usually store brands or off brands.
I'm probably going to try the Raybestos pads when I finally have enough. The dealer mechanic said to use Lincoln OEM pads to prevent squeel, maybe in this case he is right.
I have used the antisqueel blue goo on all my disc brakes since about 1980. I have never been convinced that it works except for the first few thousand miles, unless I used factory or Raybestos pads, then there is no squeel. I have noticed a few times the blue goo, either burns off or becomes brittle and then no longer locks the pad in place to prevent squeel.
I have read that high temp brake grease on the backing steels is better. So I plan to start using that.
Just my experience.
