i have a 1982 Lincoln Mark VI Continental. it has the 302 5.0 EFI.

well sometimes when i start it up it decides it wants to make its idle very high , so that when i take it out of PARK and into DRIVE, it shifts very hard into gear. As well, the car will sometimes hold this RPM so high that when im driving, it will keep accelerate on its own slowly.

i was looking around underneath the filter element housing, and noticed on the passenger side of the throttle body a place were i can adjust a screw that has a hook, so to speak, that catches the throttle position and holds it there for some reason.

if i flip the hook off of the latch, then the idle goes back to normal.

if anyone can help, that would be great. i can get pictures if need be.
