If anyone has any experiance with the Parrot or Mobile Ease hands free Bluetooth add-on with a 2006 with Nav/THX please post your impression here.

I want to add one to my new car.
I'm leaning towards the Parrot.

I bought the "advanced install" kit from motorola. It does not use the factory radio speakers but is a terrific product. I wired it up to "mute" the radio by using (I believe) the backup sensor active input leads to the radio. Anyhow the motorola BT stuff is top notch in my opinion.

Do you know how the mobilease interfaces w/the NAV radio? I'm curious if you get any on screen controls or if it just uses the radio speakers.

I beleive the Mobile Ease just mutes the radio and then uses the radio speakers (as dose the Parrot).

Well then FWIW I'd take a look at the motorola too. SQ is excellent, the interface is slick, and it's much less expensive than the Mobilease. Never seen the parrot setup.

Hi,
About the Mobile-Ease and the nav radio... It just mutes the radio and plays through the speakers. Ford sells a harness for this. You do retain volume control, and there is a phone button that pops up on the screen. However, that button does nothing. Also, the voice commands know the word "phone." However, it just responds with "feature not available at this time." It leads me to believe that at one time they had thought of putting better support in. It's a big shame that the nav system doesn't have bluetooth built in. Wouldn't it be great to see the caller id or dialing directory on the screen?

I've ordered the Parrot color (LS I think?) kit. I'll let you know what I think when I get it. I have a Nokia kit in now. It works great, but it has no display.

Thanks for the input beaups and joegr.

I went by the dealer that I got my car from today.
The Mobile Ease is about $471 plus the instal fee.
I may go for the Parrot 3100 for less than the FoMoCo item.
The Parrot at least has a display that shows the caller ID or number and holds more phone numbers too.

joegr - Please do keep me posted here on the Parrot install and impression.
I like the color Parrot ... the 3300, I think. But the 3100 has a smaller display unit and I thing it will fit on my dash better.
Where are you planning on putting the display ?

That's funny. I picked the color one because it seemed smaller. (It is a little taller, but it is not as wide as the mono.) Anyway, I just got it put in. Picture attached. I haven't tried it on the road yet, but so far it sounds good. It does have at least one bad feature. It mutes the radio several times just after power up as it is connecting to the phone.

Looks good joegr. I see you have a phone icon on the screen now.
What did the install cost you ?
Did they attach the desplay with double sided tape ?

Please post your impression here after you have it out on the road.

Oh, One more thing.

Dose it use the nav system mike or did they have to install the Parrot one ?

Thanks.

I installed it, so the install cost was about 90 minutes + the $189 or so for the Parrot (/w shipping).
The head unit is attached using the supplied Velcro.
I previously had a Nokia kit in, so I already had a harness that I could modify to fit. If you don't already have one, I think they are about $60, and you can get one that fits directly to the Parrot.
You have to install the Parrot microphone. I installed it to the track that runs down to the mirror. It is easy to route the cable behind the weatherstripping and the headliner.

Very clean installation. Great job!

What are the little icons on the Nav display ("Phone" and "Hide")?

Hide removes both the phone and the hide buttons. Phone does nothing.

It looks good but why did they make the screen so big? What all shows up on the screen? Thanks

The main use for the screen is that it displays your dialing directory from your phone. It really couldn't be any smaller and do that well. It can also display a (stored) picture of who's calling, but that's not of much interest to me.

I bet if Jenna Jameson had your number you'd change your mind.
:D

Nice. I just have one question: why are you using the Valet key? :D
