My other thread tells how My 2000 SS Towncar was damaged in a collision
(I was not driving it).

After it was fixed, it worked well for a few months and suddenly I started having Misfire issues. First it was Cyl. 1, then 4 & 7. Then 8 and the last few times it is cyl. 3. I have replaced all 8 injectors and 8 coil packs. Additionally, I had to replace the Intake Manifold, but it wasn't covered by the Ford recall.

Presently, she burns about a Litre of oil every 800-900 Km. much more than before(1L per 2300Km). She is also running hotter than before as well. The Misfire thing is most noticable at the 60km/hr mark, but only occasionally generates any codes for a service engine lamp. It used to only happen when I was maintaining speed, not when accelerating or slowing down. Now it is very noticable whenever I step on gas. Light flashes when I speed up to enter Freeway or climb hill.

Well, I'm clocking in at 546,000 Km now.
Misfire still happening, now always #3.
Fuel System was tested on advice of 1 Mechanic I know.
Pressure, everything fine when misfire occurs.
Coil pack wiring all trouble shooted...Fine.

Now here's wat got me really mad:
I went to #%!&*@$@! Ford Mercury Lincoln Service Dept.....
The guy says "We don't take on other people's projects."
 WTF?
It's a Lincoln! That's why I'm here!
"How much money do you want to spend?"
 You're kidding right? As little as possible or I would be in the showroom instead of here....
He says: "Well it could cost anywhere from 2 to 8 Thousand dollars."
Funny that he already has a bottem line of $2,000 I'm thinking.
"Leave it with us over the weekend and we will have it done by 5 on Monday or first thing on Tuesday."
 I'm sorry, I can't leave it that long, 2 people's income depend on this car all weekend. Can I book an appointment for Monday?
"Well, bring it in first thing Monday and we might get it done by Wednesday or Thursday."
Can't do it for that long...

I don't know what to do about it. Mechanics are stumped!
Now what the hell am I gonna do?

Swap out a known good coil from another cylinder with #3 and see if the misfire stays. If it does, check the spark plug. Change it out for new one or swap it out with a known good one. If it continues to stay, You have a short in the harness that most likely came about after the Cops slammed your ride.
The heat issue; Did you use tap water in the cooling system? If so you may have some (or alot) of plating or fall out in the block. Check out the thread "40 below" additive and in the Tech section cooling system info.
I had some "fun" lately tracking down a misfire too, I feel for ya.

Still Having Issues

Well, for quite a while, I had no service light, but still had problems. Now it stutters and shimmies like the tranny is about to drop. Tranny guy says it's fine. Now I get code Catalyst Efficiency below threshold bank 2.

606,000 Km and still going strong.
