On earth.
So I've noticed this issue that is completely minor at its worst, I just cant figure it out.

So when I start my car, so far only on warm starts where the car has been running and is at normal temperature. I sometimes get this just slightly off idle. I mean its off just a bit with just a small amount of vibration. After I put it in drive and go it never does it again, not sitting idle at a light, or anything. This does not happen every time I do a warm start just ever so often.

Thoughts?

I think we told you before to replace and coils and plugs.

Indeed you did, you guys here are really helpful and know your stuff, I just wanted to make sure that this sounded like the same issue to you guys since it was just at idle then went away like that.

Waiting on next payday to order these coils and plugs.

Thanks again.

Yeah I was fiddling around with the connectors for my COPs and accidentally left one disconnected when I started the car. The way it idled was terrifying. Whole car shuddered and surged.

Once messed up the order on my distributor on my 1989 crown Vic wagon. Freaking terrifying when I started the car haha. That was one unhappy v8

A marginal coil can cause this, as can several other things. Coils are probably the best bet.

Smart move. Those are quality coils.

NGK Platinum plugs are basically OEM. $3 each at autozone and buy a gapper like this and gap them to spec.

Was told by dealer tech not to gap the plugs from them as this will rub off the platinum, is this true? Only reason I ask is that I don't want this poor chap to go gap them then screw it up. I believe you have to gap them if you get them from anywhere else.

I have the same shake and shudder you speak of and will be ordering coils and plugs tonight. It's odd how the cops can be the cause of so many symptoms.

That would be true were you to use a traditional "coin" gapper. The one I linked is suited for precious metal tipped plugs because if you use it correctly it will never contact the tip.

Thanks for clarifying Shredicus, always thought you have to check the gap in these things.

No problem. Of the 8 NGK platinums I bought only 2 had deviated gaps and even then the difference was minor so it's generally not a huge issue, but for $2 and 2-3 minutes you can be 100% sure your plugs are perfect. These cars are finicky about plug gaps from what I've heard as well...

I would by NGK plugs regardless, they have a plant where I grew up and had many friends that worked there at some point. Just a nice thought I guess.

If the plugs have little cardboard protectors over the tip out of the box, then they are gapped at the factory and do not need to be re-gapped.
