So... I'm getting a Mclaren grille, and wondering what you all thought looked best for painting. I have an ivory parchment 2000 V8. Should I just paint the perimeter and leave the center black? Or paint the whole grille? I'm thinking i should do the whole thing, then if i don't want the paint match in the center, i can always repaint the center to a black color. I've included a picture of what it looks like now. Mine is the one on the right:

id agree with you to paint the entire thing to match the car. then decide if you like it like that or paint the middle black. some members suggested to me to paint the areas of the hood where the grill mounts black because you'll see it through the mclaren grill.

In my opinion, a black center on the McLaren grille will look better than a painted center on a light color LS like your car. You need something to break up the front. If you had chrome on the bumpers I'd suggest the LSE grille but the McLaren would be a good choice.

Can u actually order the Mclaren grille in ivory parchment? I've been thinkn of ordering one myself but didn't see the color listed.

my car is light parchment gold and i just did a mclaren grill earlier in the summer. heres a picture with it installed and the second one is photoshopped with a black center (disclaimer: my photoshop skills are lacking).

Yes it can be painted to any color. Just select "Other" in the drop down menu and specify the color and color code in the comment section when checking out. We have not listed every color available that the LS came in on the site but we can paint the McLaren grille any color you wish.

hey ken quick question, do you still carry the the read emblems and what is the process of taking the factory out to put those in?

We have the red emblems in stock. As for the taking out the old emblem, I have had success by heating up the emblem with a hair dryer (this loosens up the double sided tape) and then sliding some string or fishing line behind the emblem to work it off. Depending on the emblem and how long it has been on there you may have to heat it up several times. Just be careful not to pry it off or you will break the emblem. I have had some emblems pop off just by applying a little heat. Your mileage may vary.

The reason why I ask is I am getting my hood repainted. A semi truck kicked up a rock on the freeway and hit the center of my hood, scratching all the way through the clear coat. So, the body shop is only charging me 25 bucks to paint the grille (and eyebrows) while they are doing the hood, and I'll have a perfect match. So, I figure i can repaint the center black myself if i wish. Thanks guys!

Hey tagliato22, That looks really good. I just have one suggestion. Get some black touch up paint and paint the holes that do not go all the way thru the grill. It will give the impession of going thru and make it look complete. Alos paint the hood under the grill black also. I did those thing to my mclaren grill and it was big improvement. Good luck!!
