Slight problem, i replaced my clockspring today did everything correctly, but take my car out to enjoy the cruise control again and it still doesnt work. flashes on once, then off and doesnt work. also my steering wheel controls are still a little loopy, some buttons doing the wrong function. what could cause this. i replaced the clockspring and nothing happend! any other ideas? fuses maybe?

lol, i wish that was the case. its really frustrating when u think u did something right and perfect and then it doesnt work out. so anyone got an ideas? quik? im at a loss.

Hey Pappy did you get a new one part number XW4Z-14A664-AA?? that is the complete unit for the 2000 thru 2002 LS, and did you get it from me?? If you did and it is bad or wrong let me know and I get another out to you ASAP.

bigpappy, my cruise control side works perfect but the radio controls are different when i try and change the track down it just goes up and the audio mute button doesn't work. is that what was happening to yours? let me know your resolution

I got it from team ford, but i dont understand if the new one was messed up how would the same features not work exactly like the old one did?

same thing happened to me.. i had the cruise control go bad.. then eventually the clockspring light started flashing.. took it to the dealer.. fixed the clockspring.. still no cruise control.. let me know if u get it fixed

Unless some of those features are linked through the ECM the clock spring should have fixed it, do you have any codes stored in the ECM? Just talked with a tech. He said that does go through the ECM/PCM so you should run the codes. It will only set the light if emission is out. If it were just the cruise then he said to check the cruise cut out switch on the booster/master cyl. He said it was a network filing system??? whatever that is.

i guess ill have to see if there are any codes and go from there. thanks for the help mrzeee. man i thought i fixed it. Anybody else that has an idea feel free to chime in...

Have you guys ever considered that the cruise control button is bad? When my clock spring went out it was an issue with the horn sounding when no pressure was applied. After doing some pinpointing and isolating, it was determined the clock spring was bad.

However, a LS at my parents dealership had a similiar problem minus any issues with the horn or airbag light and it was determined the cruise control button was bad. Take a step back and isolate where the problem is coming from instead of spending money on parts in "hopes" it might fix the problem. Also, that same LS later had a problem with the wheel mounted radio control buttons and that was not the clockspring.

Well the thing is when i press the button the green cruise control button comes on, but then 2 seconds after it comes on it goes off again. you can keep pressing it on and the light will come on, but then it will blink off again after 2 seconds. Could that still be the button? id think if it was the button the light wouldnt even come on. Could the sensor be bad perhaps???
