I had my 2000 Lincoln LS V-8 at my dealership last week because of this starting issue. The jumper wire didn't solve the problem in the end.
One of the major issues was a relay was shorting out, causing it to sometimes start and most of the time not starting.
The starting issue was only 1 out of 3 times last week, so they took it back in to make sure the relay they changed wasn't blown again (it wasn't). There were several relays that were corroded and one had a small burn mark on it.
This was posted a long time ago about checking fuses. If you are having some issues, maybe consider checking your relays. I spent money on parts that I really didn't need for my starting problem.
On my LS the box is located under the hood, front, passengers side.
