I just purchased a wire harness from SCosche for my '85 Mark VII.

Coming from the power plug on the original stero are a Red Yellow and Green wire.

The Scosche harness Has a yellow and a red but nothing that would match the green.

My Pioneer Stereo has a Red, Yellow, and Orange wire coming from the power section.

Plus the Scosche harness doesn't seem to have it's wires in the same place as the original harness that came with my Mark VII.

First is what does the green wire from my original harness do? :Bang

I think I know what the others wires do - Red is to the ignition, yellow is to power.

I wouldn't pay any attention to the colors, follow the labels on the wires from the wiring harness and your pioneer. I would doubt the green would be a ground but who knows (DC applications usually use black for a ground). I would think that there is a power wire for the antenna but I'm not sure if that year had one and what color it would be.

I always do the colors. Some colors may not match right up. Like different colors of purple. But so far that has worked for me. Two M7 w/ three different decks. All Sony by that way. . . Haha

I am wondering if the unit I got is DOA. I won it on ebay. I have 2 others coming. This one only cost $22. But it a nice Pioneer unit.

It was to be a working unit but I can't seem to get it to power up. The other units coming are New and I will have to see if I get the same problem with them.

To test if it works, run the positve and ground wires directly to the battery. If it won't power up, it's shot.
