mark sound 6cd radio installation on a 02 ls

can i install a mark sound radio from a lincoln ls 03 with 3 plugs on my 02 lincoln ls that has 2 plugs???? thanks in advance for all the help
 
half way through the 03 year, they changed the harnesses.

beyond that there are different stereo packages for each generation available they all do not have the same connectors


also dont believe that radio would be about to read the CAN data from your car.
 
beyond that, having a bright silver radio with the rest of the black dash would just look terrible..
 
also never been a huge fan of the JBL systems the Mark had. but the way it was wired made for a pretty easy job for custom speakers and an aftermarket amp.


the soundmark system however...

yes you are right about that,but i can paint it,,,,,what if there´s a way to just connect the power wires and speakers and not the data wires that u mention,,,oh and i said it had 3 plugs but i was wrong,it has 4 plugs

There aren't separate power, speaker and ground wires anymore. This isn't the 60's; or even the 80's anymore. Fight it if you want, but you will need a 1st gen or appropriate aftermarket radio to work.

What is wrong with your current Head Unit? Replacements can be found on EBay. If the CD Changer is broken or no longer functioning, it can be replaced separately as well. I think the CD Changer units were all the same regardless of the Head Unit branding.

There is a difference between the Alpine and non-Alpine unit...

well they are all in the same plug so unless you want to go cutting wires in your factory harness (which is almost always a terrible idea)

then with out the data the radios display wont sync... therefor it will be bright as sh!t as night blinding you while you're trying to drive, then there is the loss of RAP...

personally I cant understand any reason to go through all that trouble to have a half ass working radio, I mean if you were driving a piece of sh!t Honda I could understand... otherwise never understood the reason behind rigging things up an a nice car. especially when there is no shortage of good working proper radios available that you could just get and then plug in and not have to waste time with the rest.




that being said, there is no way I would try to put another 6 disc changer into any car, piles of junk just waiting to break down. also if I needed a new radio, I would probably opt for spending a few bucks to get a better radio with nice features, but thats just me.

I was referring to just the CD Changer mechanism itself, which can be separated from the Head Unit. Are you saying the CD Changer mechanism itself is different between Head Units? If so, I learned something and that is why I italicized think.

I was initially mildly bent that my BMW had only single CD capability. Then I learned about the hard drive and the single slot made sense; that and it also plays DVDs. I have pretty much all of my CD collection (at least all the songs I care about) on the HD and still have 20% left; I forgot its capacity... Initially I thought I would have to spend hours downloading the CDs (which was going to be a royal pain) then I found out I could import the files from a flash drive! That didn't take long at all!!

If I needed to replace the unit in the LS I would definitely get a double-DIN aftermarket unit and get more and better features.

Oh..... No, as far as I know, other than the external changer, all the CD changing mechanisms are the same. The Alpine has different processors.

This was my thinking as well. The Face Plate connects via a simple small Molex Cable and the CD Changer mechanism connects to the Head Unit via a Ribbon Cable.

ok,when i bought the car it came with an aftermarket single din jvc radio,and they also removed the original amp. since i can see the plugs in the trunk,and only the speakers on the 4 doors are connected,and someone give me the radio i mentioned to you,a sound mark 6cd original radio from a 03 lincoln,and i just want to keep the original look on the dash and all the speakers wired

You can do that much easier by getting the good double din kit, and a good touchscreen double din aftermarket radio. The two "speakers" in the rear deck were subs (sort of). Note that your LS may not have come from the factory with the subs or sub amp, but the wiring would be in place. That seems more likely than someone removing them. (Also, the factory ones would probably be failed by now anyway.)

~ confirmed, in trunk, top left corner in behind the liner cover there is an empty plug.
 
ok,thanks a lot for your help,,i´ll see what i can do,when i get a double din touchscreen radio
