Hey guys i am really interested in swapping a manual trans into a m8. i was thinking of using a tr3650 from a s197 mustang because of the remote mount shifter and also the clutch pedal and cable from an s197. do you see any discrepancys with these parts going into an m8? thought and opinions are greatly appreciated.thanks

believe me frog i have used the search function more time than i care to count on this subject, i just cant find what im looking for

Because, as far as I know, no one has used those exact parts to do the swap...

At a minimum, the ECM will need moved to under the driver's seat or to the trunk.

MN12 pedal assembly...

I'd personally go hydro for the clutch.

Also search 94m5... He has a manual swapped Mark.

ive talked to sandman on here a little bit and he said he moved his ecm to under the steering column temporarily and said he was working on an extesion cable. my line of thought is to use as many parts from the donor car as to keep things simple. i know in 94m5's car the clutch-master cyl is jammed in an extremely tight spot, and think a cable running out of that area would be a little simpler.

I'm gonna have to agree that the cable will be the simpler route, changing clutch masters in an already tight spot is just asking for headaches.

I hope you do a thorough write up with step by step pics on your project, I'll be following that swap within the next year

If I was to do this, I'd use a hydro setup out of a 4th gen F-body. The reservoir is remote from the master cylinder and it's only a matter of fabricating a mounting bracket for the slave.

that's also a very intriguing route... i bet you could pick up those parts at the local salvage fairly cheap. i'll keep this in mind. also if i used a t56 from the f body i might not have to fab up a a bracket for the slave. couldnt you pick up a termi bellhousing to bolt to the gm trans or am i dead wrong?

forget what i just said. i looked the way the slave sits in the f-body bell housing and the cobra bell housing has no provisions for a slave as it is a cable system. maybe if we could get some pics of the way the people have their manual marks clutch release systems' set up that would help.

Well, a cable bell will be a pull type setup, and this slave is for a push style. As I said, some sort of mount would be needed to mount the slave behind the clutch fork.

ya i understand you there. i still think a cable system would be simpler.

thank you ford nut, that is an exceptionally helpful post on your part. that thread is very informative. i think ill will move the computer to where the foot ebrake is and fab up a hand brake like that one guy did in the thread.
