ls radio installation question

in a couple of days i'm going to be getting an 03 lincoln ls v6 and i'm freaking pumped. i want to install a single din or double din gps navigation head unit in. how do i remove the radio from the dash?

do I have to remove the whole section of dash below the ash tray? cause it wraps all the way around the shifter

yes, and dont scratch the climate controll with the spring clips

Yes, you do. Pull it out at the top edges first (around the ash tray), then just pull the whole thing up. Remove the ash tray assembly (four screws). Pull out the top center vents. Remove the radio and AC controls as one assembly (four screws). Then you can separate the radio from the AC controls.
