LS OE Rear Pads - Ceramic?

So I've been doing some research on what brake pads to get for the LS..

What I've come across is that most pads listed for the LS comes up as semi-metallic for the fronts, and ceramic for the back. E.g. Wagner ThermoQuiet: Semi-metallic front, ceramic rear. Same with Raybestos, Centric, etc.

I wasn't able to find any composition info on the Motorcraft pads, or the OE "brown box" pads.

So my question is, did the LS come from the factory with ceramic pads in the back? For those who bought their car new, did the rears dust less?
 
Mine came with semi-metallics front and rear, although I'm not sure if it was changed at some point (bought it off lease with ~25k on the clock).

Changed them out sometime last year while doing the RotorPros upgrade (drilled + slotted rotors, SS lines, semi-met pads).
 
What Semi Metallics stock????? I don't believe it.. no way..

I went from stock to semi metallics in the rear, and wow the dust difference was AWFUL! I have changed to the Warner Thermoquiet's :/ The fronts were replaced previously, but are ceramic. I could have sworn somewhere I read that stock were Ceramic.

Either way, OP get the damn ceramics.! hahaha!

Right now I have Raybestos pads on, but I don't know their composition. There is some black/brown brake dust so I'm inclined to say they're metallic, but they are awful when cold (almost had a collision because of that once).

I have my eyes on the Wagner ThermoQuiet pads (front semi-met, rear ceramic) or the Motorcraft pads (cost more). I'm just confused as to why the rears are ceramic..

With a name like "Raybestos" they are probably just pure asbestos! Hold your breath when cleaning your wheels!!!:eek:

Thanks, can you take a screenshot? Not that I don't believe you, but I am going to email RockAuto about it, and I'd like to have something to backup my statement.
 
4W4Z-2200-AA is the stock pads..

I could have swore that I saw it on ShopKey but I found it on NapaProLink..

I have those adaptive 1 pads on my front, had put them on the marauder too, dusty as all :q:q:q:q. stay away from them if you can

Plus they're pricey as all hell.. Even with shop discount they're pricey..

I have Semi-metallics all the way around on mine and they don't produce much dust..
 
I meant to add that Porterfields were the best pads i ever ran. Excellent stopping power and very minute dust. Heating those pads up made them grab like magic.

Thanks. Unfortunately, RockAuto weren't of much help - They insist that whatever they sell will be fine, and couldn't explain the composition.

So I searched on partssource.ca, and found that the REAR Wagners sold by them are in fact semi-metallic, P/N MX944. I found them on RockAuto as well under the same P/N. The pads (ceramic) sold as rear on RA are P/N PD806. Hmm.. I sent them an email, so we shall see what they say.

Sorry, a bit too pricey and the availability in Canada might be limited to just online.

Too expensive, the markup on parts here is retarded. Buying off RockAuto will save me about $70 after shipping.
 
Ohh.. I see.. Have you tried Tirerack? They have some 'performancey kind of pads'.. Too bad shipping is expensive as hell or I could buy them and ship them to you..
 
Meh. All they sell is ceramic, all of which cost too much as well. Tirerack also charges more for shipping than RockAuto.

The Wagners are $105, shipping and taxes in. Can't really beat that. They will likely be better than Motorcraft pads.
 
NAPA Ceramics

I put the NAPA ceramics on my LS, no noise, very low dust. Will buy them again. However they are $80 per axle. Not cheap, but with no problems. So that's a good buy.
