I am having difficulty with a loud rubbing noise occasionally coming from the brakes. It is some sort of odd vibration and can be felt through the brake pedal. The noise sounds similar to the sound you hear on some rigs and large trucks when they are doing a quick stop or that you hear sometimes hear when you first stop in a car with rotors and pads that are wet from the rain. I will only hear it just before the car comes to a complete stop (usually only when flat or going downhill, almost never when on an incline), when i lightly release the brakes to slowly roll forward (brakes still slightly applied) and for a split second while I am releasing the brakes. If I press the brakes more firmly towards the end of a stop, I will not hear the noise. Anyone have any idea what this could be, or any remedies for the situation. Any help is greatly appreciated. --James

I have a very similar isssue. It sounds as if my pads were getting worn down too far, but I have checked them all and they look fine. All of my rotors have smooth finishes too. The only two explanations I have came up with is either for one, my pads are cheap and noisy. Or two, my rotors could need turned.
