Hey guys, i'm hoping you can help me here. I need front rotors, i get alot of steering wheel shaking/vibration when i brake on the highway. I let this issue go on for several months (lazy) and now i think it messed up alot of other things aswell.

My steering wheel feels loose, it has about 2 inches of play before the wheels turn, even with the engine off the wheel can move left to right it is really loose. I also get a clunk noise (from right wheel) when i turn the wheel from left to right as i'm accelerating from a stop or just parked.

I'm guessing the vibration of the warped rotors is killing other things or making everything loose, the vibration i get when i brake on the highway is "violent" no joke.... The whole hood shakes.

Could it be the rack and pinion? Let me know, and please if you have had something like this fixed what are the costs roughly?? I can't do the work myself so it has to get done by a mechanic.:(

probably killed the strut rod bushings AND the inner and outer tie rod ends.

Since you cant do the work, we cant tell you how much it will cost.

If you pay a mechanic to do it, it's gonna be alot of money.
probably 500.00ish in labor.

Long Island roads, old car...
All of those bushings in the front of the car are probably starting to fail and that would be consistent with the shaking at speed.

The engine in the Mark VIII last for a long time.
The problem with a high mileage mark VIII isn't the drivetrain, I always find that it's the suspension.
