Hi, I'm new here to the forum but not to fords. I just got a 1998 lincoln Mark viii w/ 65000 miles and no rust from Fla. It's torreador Red w/ Tan or "Prairie" interior. It has been converted to shocks and struts with springs recently, has no engine codes and runs good. I feel a slight hesitation or bog off idle if I give her a bunch of throttle from idle even in park or neutral. If I powerbrake the car it pulls pretty good. I was going to start with a full tune-up keeping the stock c.o.p.'s because there are no codes being thrown. My questions are:
Does this sound like a logical approach?
I've seen different recomendations for plugs and correct gap, Which plugs to get " stock lsc" maybe a cat back install soon and a c.a.i.
Which C.A.I. , are there any direct bolt in ones?? I also can fab sheetmetal pretty easily if not.
what else should I do?, I was thinking Fuel Filter, Pcv Valve, Air Filter, Oil Filter and Oil Change, What about egr valve?? anything else I may benefit from changing while doing a Tune-up??

Help Please. Need direction

Check your plugs, you have a gen 2 so you have COP ignition, check and make sure you have no coils going out, MAKE SURE your new plugs are gapped correctly, then i would do a new air filter, fuel filter, pcv valve, and a good synthetic oil change with a anti drainback motorcraft oil filter, they are like 4$ for one at autozone, (cant remember part number off the top of my head), also, check your tranny fluid, if its brown or smells funny, its time to change it, go with Mercon 5 fluid to replace it, thats definitley an upgrade and usually gets most peoples transmissions shifting smoother, other then that, do typical maintenance, check for worn out suspension compnents i.e ball joints, end links, etc. Also, you might wanna check the rubber Vaccum T lines for your intake manifold, that would definitley cause some hesitation or weakness at wot if u have even a small vaccuum leak, if the line has any cracking whatsoever just replace it. Hope i was of help to you
