I own a 2002 Lincoln Ls with the 3.0 v6 the car has about 105,000 miles on it and i am avg. about 16-17 miles a gal. Is there anything i can do that will increase that a little bit or is that about what every v6 LS gets?
Thank You,
Chad

I do not know i have owned the car for a little under a year so i do not know if the previous owner even ever changed it.

Fuel filter, spark plugs, keep your foot out of it...

I average about 18 with my V8. mostly city.

same here pektel, most the time i hover between 18.5 and 19.5...hwy she shoots up to around 25-27tho.

just do the normal stuff. fuel filter, air filter, i think the V6 has a PCV valve too. fuel injector cleaner might help.

other then that, keep ur foot out of her.

I get 15 - 18, depending on if I let it warm up in the morning...

highway, when it was warm I could get 25 easy, now Im getting 22 - 24 and only 35 out >.>

This winter is going to suck on gas hahaha

Some states/cities use a winter blend that contains alcohol that will reduced your gas mileage this time of year.

I've been getting about 20 with my '05 with the V6. Suburban driving, not punching it.

I concur. My to-work-and-back tanks average 19-20 and my highway-only trips get me 22-24. Those readings have been as bad as 16.5 city and 18 highway at one point.
Many factors at play here: speed, acceleration, weight, outside temperature, gas mix, tire pressure, accessory drain on electrical system (subs, ac, etc).

I have this habit of speeding so the readings could be better but I'm pretty sure the Gen2 v6 was EPA rated at 20/25, so I'm right about there.

Your best bet would be to change the filters and the plugs if you have the time/money. That 100k mark is rapidly approaching for me as well... better start saving up for the maintenance.

i went today to check out the prices for a tune up and they said about 5 or 6 hundred dollars  oh well i know i cant change the plugs myself so i better just get someone who knows what there doing to do it for me!

That $500-$600 includes a laundry list of things. Or at least it should. The dealership by me for about $600 changes plugs, tranny flush, powersteering flush, brake flush, brake inspection, coolant flush, airfilter, oil and oil filter, tire rotation...

its a pretty complete service.

that wasnt even the dealership for me it was just a muffler shop I think i would rather have it done at the Lincoln dealership.

Why can't you change the plugs yourself? Its not hard. Just time consuming. (and back breaking)

Fuel mileage has a lot to do with how you drive. I get just under 14 avg. all in town. Highway I get 26. And until a few days ago, my car runs fine. :p

But your car is at the mileage where a tune up should be done.

i wish i could do it myself but chances are once i got it all appart i wouldnt know how to put it back togeather

my gas milage is about 14-17 mpg city && 22-25 mpg highway but i believe it will increase a substantial amount if i fix my egr problem...

i get a little over 25 on the highway. My avg is around 22-23 with a pretty good mix of driving
