My keypad never illuminated since I got my LS, I can lock all doors fine but when entering the factory code nothing happens. Since I can lock does this just mean the pad is bad?

If you are sure you have the correct factory code, then yes it probably is a bad keypad. If not, it'll be the DDM.

Might this work for ya?

The RKE keypad remote entry feature also illuminates the RKE keypad lamp and issues illuminated entry on/off requests to the DDM, when locking and unlocking. The keyless entry keypad is wired to the DDM which controls the output functions of the driver door lock. The DDM then communicates with the REM which controls the output functions of the passenger door locks and the luggage compartment lid.

thats a stick on number pad, if his car has the factory keypad then this is different (including how it looks), so he would have two keypad mounted right next to each other. that would look silly.

now if this is the keypad that he has, then he could have a dead battery.

OP: when you say that it does lock, you are talking about using the lock switch on the interior right? you're not talking about locking the car by pressing the last two buttons on the keypad at the same time

@Loud1,

on the stick-on pad, didn't even notice ... my bad!

Rather odd, Tasca claims it's the correct "base" p/n 14A626 for the RKE keypad

well it is an official ford part, its just to add a keypad to cars that didn't come with it, its basically a key fob with a number pad instead of buttons.

It is kinda cool if you didn't get it as a factory option, my brother in law put one on on his fusion, only he hid his under the edge of the trunk lid (above the license plate) its nice because you really cant see it.

Going strictly off memory because I am just to lazy to go out and look right now :D I believe this is the direct replacement for the factory installed keypad.

Might verify connections and that illumination power is getting there (not sure how many pin the connector is) and that the code your using is the factory one (dealer can pull the code)

Keyless entry code

Has the factory code been replaced with a personal code? It is programmable. My F-150 door panel never has lite up.

Im looking at the factory code in hand. Personal codes dont matter. I meant I can lock it via the keypad but cannot unlock. So in a sense it works but doesnt accept the factory code or illuminate.

Sounds like you have some bad connections, or a bad DDM.

just curious, how do you know what the factory code is? or how do you have it "in hand"

did you have the code pulled from the computer by a dealer, do you have the original code card, did you fine the code written some where?

I'm not saying that your not using the right code, but i could see certain circumstances where somebody might think they have the original code but actually do not, like if a second owner found the original code card in the car but the original owner may have had a problem and had to have the DDM replaced... regardless, the keypad not lighting up is one problem, could be as simple as a dead bulb or a symptom of a larger problem.

There are multiple LEDs (four if I recall correctly) that would have to fail, and they are not in series.

and there you go, that why this is the guy you listen too!

just a little curious, I would figure you are as much the go to guy for a wealth of knowledge on Panther platform cars as you are with the LS, BUT are you as equally as well-versed in the 3-series world?
