I just picked up a 2000 Lincoln LS v8 and was hoping I could get a couple of questions answered. First off when I first start the car a little bit later there is 5 sets of 5 beeps, ive checked everything and with a quick google check says it probably has something to do with the air bag light. Is this true and if not what is it? Also when I bought the car the guy said the bushings needed to be fixed and it would run me about $250 at a local repair shop, is there usually much else wrong when you have to fix the bushings. Finally I believe this is my last question, it has an Alpine system in it but the lcd on the Radio dosent work and the dealer said I couldnt replace that with an after market Radio because the the Amplifier in the back wouldnt work and the speakers (i believe just the back ones) would sound like crap. True or not? Im debating on just replacing the entire system which I have an idea for what I want to do but would probably start another thread on that if you guys think it is even a remotely good idea. Thanks for any help
I just thought id through this in here, the car only has 86k miles and I picked it up for $3150 so I think I got a pretty good deal :D

1. five sets of five beeps. This is actually in the owner's manual. (http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/tech/Lincoln-LS/2001LincolnLS-OwnersManual.pdf) It means that you have at least two problems. a. There is some fault of the SRS. Usually, this fault is the clockspring in the steering column or the connector under the driver's seat. b. Your SRS warning light in the cluster has burned out or has been removed. You need to replace it.
2. You'll just have to inspect everything under there. The rear toe links seem to be a common problem too.
3. The display on the radio is not LCD. It's vacuum fluorescent. You can replace the stock head unit and still use the factory amps, speakers, and subs. It's a little more involved, but not very difficult. The sound should be a good as with the factory headunit, with the exception of the center channel speakers. Just leave those disconnected.

One more thing is there any devices that actually increase mpg? or are most of them just a hoax.
You bought the wrong car. Most such devices are hoaxes. The right tune with an SCT might help a little bit. You'll get bigger increases just by driving slowly and accelerating very slowly. I just really hope I don't get stuck behind you.

One of the first things I did when I bought my "Used" 2002 LINCOLN LS V8 (3.9L)
with 85,000 miles from my Local FORD Dealership was order a Car Diagnostic Code Scanner.

INNOVA 3130 Diagnostic Code Scanner, I bought it at Amazon. It saved me from having
to go to a Mechanic (a bunch of times) and charge me $60.00 everytime a "dummy light" would
pop-up. It especially, helped me with my SMOG/Emissions tests. Luckily, so far "...knock on wood" it's
going on 4 years since I first got it, with no major problems (any problem over $500).

One thing you may also want to do is keep handy is the phone# (Just In Case) of the local "flat-bed"
Towing Company with the best rates. I've had only had to get my 2002 LINCOLN towed (...uhhh?)
about 3 times ($35 hook-up), and that's because of an Alternator issue these past 2 weeks. Anyways.

Last but not least, ...RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH. :confused:Do your LINCOLN homework !!!!
Knowing "is" half the battle. Get to know the Major problems for Gen 1's and Gen 2's and the $ Prices to fix.
LVC This site has helped me enormously !!! with... info, specs, parts, hints etc... Good Luck. :D

... and charge me $60.00 everytime a "dummy light"
