I was just curious I see a lot of people needing jumps around my neighborhood... I haven't offered my help cause I heard it's bad to jump other cars with ours... what's the procedure for doing so if need be?... I just don't want to fry anything for doing something stupid

I would never jump anyone with my mark....Get one of those portable jumpers if you want to help people.

every time i have ever jumped another car my alternator went within weeks !!

like 5 times !!.. all different cars !!

except my Honda... ive given 20-30 jumps.. never a problem..

i would laugh and say "fat chance" if you asked for a jump and i was driving my Mark

Used my Mark to jump my other Mark several times, probably like 20 or so and have never had a problem. They must just be particular to their own kind.

Never a problem here. Jumped other cars, had mine jump started. Never an issue.

I think the biggest issue is connecting them when running or having BOTH running. Connect both when off, then start the jumper car. Let is run for at least 15 minutes. Turn off jumper car and with cable connected start the dead car. That the method I use and seems to work fine.

Same for me.....

If your vehicle is computer controlled then you should turn the engine & key to the off position before the car recieving the jump cranks it's engine. This way there won't be a power surge.

I would still rather use a jump box as MERIJONS97LSC said.

ive jumped lots of cars. never had a problem. just hook em up when they are both off.

I have not had a problem *knock on wood* jumping other cars.

I have an upgraded alt. 351Amps at idle
and 2 1150 CCA Bluetops.

The only thing Ive noticed is a loud whistle like the car is supercharged when I connect the jumpee and i rev up to 1500

Mr Wilson use to do it like this:

I used to jump cars all the time with this:

The jumping was easy, it was the landing you had to worry about.

lolol i remember that pic, and yes when i saw the title of the thread i thought, "who cares if its someone elses car and they dont care, jump it!!!!!" lolol mr wilson lolol

Hehehe... yeah I shoulda been a little more accurate with the title... knowing all the smart a**es on here :)... yeah I was just curious don't want to fry something out... my gf works for Mercedes Benz and they say never jump a car with theirs cause it'll screw the computer up on a lot of them... and I feel bad when there's an elderly person on the side of the road or sittin in a parking lot waiting... and yeah I've toasted a few alternators on my ex's sebring jumping others... so I was skeptical... thanks for the advice!! oh yeah and awesome pics by the way!!
