Ok. The JMod is NOT the change of the accumulators. Often times people confuse them.
The accumulators break and need replacement.
The JMod is designed to extend the life of the trans by reducing fluid pressures. This also quickens and firms up the shifts.
I have not done this in a while, but I dont even think you have to drop the valve body to change them so a new gasket would thus not be needed.
You may want to consider replacing the dipstick tube o-ring. 10 cent part that is very prone to leaking.
1. Drain all fluids and the Torque Convertor also. (there is a plug somewhere on it).
2. Replace the accumulator with the newer/better style.
3. Use a can of trans flush to clear out the trans cooler lines - VERY IMPORTANT!
4. Put pan back on with NEW filter and while the gasket is re-usable, a new Ford OEM one would be recommended due to age.
4. Fill with Mercon V. Maybe 10 quarts at first, then run for a few seconds to fill the TC and repeat with a quart or so till full and shift while running.
