Oh, it feels so good to finally say that!
I think I've picked up what comes as close to my "Dream Mark" as I could have ever asked for, to replace the "Nightmare Mark" that I'm soon to be sending to that great scrap heap in the sky... no wait, that one's definitely going to hell. :gr_devil:
From a friend of a friend in Clearwater, I bought a white/tan '96 LSC with just short of 90k on the clock. It's got all the options except for a moonroof and is in AWESOME condition for a car of its age, that's been through 5 previous owners!
It's been converted to "standard-height" coils, and the HID ballasts have been retro-fitted with some different bulbs, but that's about all the modification that's been done to it.
The previous owner gave me the good HID bulb that he still had along with the rest of the spare headlight parts that he'd pulled when he did the swap, so all I need is a new HID bulb and I've got true HIDs! Really though, whether the bulbs are HID or not, the headlights are still a good improvement over the clouded, burnt-out housings that were on my '93.
The interior and exterior of the car are in immaculate condition, and there are very few items worth mentioning that need to be fixed. All that does need to be fixed is pretty minor stuff, and I think I can get most or all of the parts I'd need off my old car.
Only two things really put this car away from being 100% my "Dream Mark": Color combo, and roof. I had grown to love having a moonroof on my '93, so that is going to be missed for awhile. While I usually don't have great feelings for white cars, the metallic glimmer of Opal Opalescent is quickly starting to grow on me.
Something that really impressed me though (remember, this car has had 5 previous owners!) is that the car was given to me with its original window sticker and owners manual inside! I couldn't believe it! And, to make my day feel even more reMARKable, what should pull out behind me just after I start my drive home but ANOTHER white first-gen Mark VIII! Immediately after you've just purchased your own Mark of the same generation and color, that just DOES NOT HAPPEN!!!
So, needless to say I'm not just a little excited about finally having a new car, but downright ecstatic that I have a '96 Mark VIII LSC, and absolutely blown away by the entire experience I had during that day!
Oh, and yes I do promise I will have pictures up soon!
