OK guys so here is my issue i got a 04 LS v8. like a couple of months (december) i noticed that my AC was not working. the heat was working fine but the ac was blowing "not cooled air" when i put it to 60 but if i put it on 90 it gets really hot. so since i know that i had to replace my degas bottle i said maybe i have air in my system or/and dccv is getting stuck. now i replaced the degas bottle, upper radiator hose, lower radiator hose with oil cooler, thermestat housing, themostat housing cover, thermostat, that little hose that connected to the thermostat housing and goes around to the throttle body, belt tensioner, idler pulley and bracket, tensioner pulley, all the spark plugs and one coil on plug. and then we bled the system a couple of times following the procedures that are on the tech articles plus i have done it a couple of times so i know how to do it. the i tried the AC again and same issue. i get heat but the AC was blowing no cooled air so i thought that i needed a re-charge so i purchased a can with a gauge and i checked the system and the system was full so i said maybe i will have the system fully vacumed and recharged so i procrastenated and last week i just decided to turn on my ac and then it was blowing cold as ice so i said to myself great it working so then it got too cold and i place the temp at 72 degrees and it got worm but when i placed it back to 60 it didnt get any colder so i said to my self damn it its the DCCV is stuck, so yesterday i removed it, took it apart and cleaned it realy good i added some wd40 to the pistons the thing looked brand new so i installed it back again and i bled the system like i have done before and now it blows hot all the time so i checked all the fuses and all of them are fine do you guys think that i may need to buy a new DCCV? rockauto has it for $98 with shipping and handling so should i just get it or is there something else i should try before i get it.
 
I had similar issues, had the A/C checked and recharged etc. Sometimes I got hot air from the drivers side vents and cold air from passenger side vents. I got a DCCV this week from Max and got it installed... there have been no more problems.
 
self test on datc

did you run the self test on the DATC for problems? did you check the resistance on the DCCV coils to see if they are shorted? resistance should be less than 24ohms as I remember. anything greater is bad. Check your lines to the a/c unit. One should be hot, the other cold, if one is really cold and you're not getting any cool inside the cabin, then you have another problem, maybe blend door stuck?

Dccv i would say very common problem I replaced mine last year still blowing ice cold in FL.
 
i could not test the dccv cuz i did not have a multimeter since the dccv is a comon issue i will start with a replacement of that i have a 15% discount on rockauto so i may just get it and replace it and take it from there. also ran the self test on the DATC and it came out with 1265 thats the blend door code that the gen2 no longer have.
 
Update.. His morning on my commute I just decided to turn on the ac and place it ag 60 now the air came out cool since it was a cool morning today so the ac was nit hot just nit getting cooled so i drove a hour for my commute and when i got to the parking lot i checked the top 2 hoses coming out of the dccv to see if they was hot and they were Col to the touch compared to the 3rd hoses that was scalding hot so i think the dccv is actually working and maybe i just need a ac recharge this weekend I'm going to take it to my mechanic and have him check my ac maybe the compressor is bad or low.

First the system was full with 90 pounds of pressure be visually checked for leakes and could not find any so we turned on the car and the ac to 60 and hr noticed that the clutch was not engaging so he checked for power and there was power he try to pry or pull to see the clutch would engage and nothing. He said that the clutch is not spinning or something to that effect hr said jt was not the dccv since if he puts it at 90 and it got really hot but back at 60 it went back to room temp. So I need to get a new ac compressor.

Actually, it sounds like you only need the clutch. Dealers always want to replace the compressor and the clutch as a set because it is less risk to them and more profit.
 
I have a similar issue, driver side is cool, not cold, and passanger side is hot, i'm gonna check the pressure on the system and see if it needs recharged if not i think i might do the dccv.

If the passenger side is hot, and not just not-cooled, then it is the DCCV and not a low refrigerant issue.
A bad DCCV, even if it is just the passenger half, will still keep the driver's side from blowing very cold air.
 
thanks joe, i'm gonna pull the dccv out and take a look, pretty sure ill end up replacing it
 
I check the price if a used ac compressor and its like 80 bucks so I might just get a used one and replace it with that one.
 
@ChrisTheBest: I think your issue is the dccv because one side is working just take it out and clean it bad then try it again make sure also that you bleed the system properly.
 
yeah, i opened the hood and looked how its routed and decided that i need to dedicate a day off to this project, so i'll wait until friday. I also got to do some research into how to properly bleed the system since i've never done that before.
