i've been thinking lately that i want to switch out the center ac vents, stereo, temp. controls, and ash tray with the ones that are silver

i'm assuming the vents, radio, and temp controls will fit (at least i think they will), but will the ash tray fit or will some modding have to be done to make it work?

Yeah you could simply by painting them silver like I did

Does the radio/climate control unit come away from the bezel? Or did you have to tape off all the buttons! :O

yeah it came off by using a very small torx bit or you can tape all them

take some screws out or tape 36 (yes I counted) small buttons.. I'll take the eariler.. Thanks for the tip! I will probably have to do this now..

The lower section of a gen 2 does not match up with the ashtray section of a gen 1. Just FYI. Painting is probably the best option, though it looks like you've already made that decision anyways.

You did a nice job on that it looks great! I've been wanting to do the opposite & paint all my silver parts black.
