Is this a dealer gimmick?

This morning I received the e-mail below from my local Lincoln dealer. It is vague and when I called they want to set up an appointment to analize my 04LS for any 'potential' fixes that might enhance the performance of the car. when I called the service manager wouldn't say whether the updates were part of the 'free' service or not. The e-mail does say the fixes are complimentary but I'm still not convinced and I think that this is just a gimmick to get me there for some sort of service sales pitch which I don't have time for.

Has anyone else received any thing like this from your Lincoln Dealer (I x'ed the phone number)?

E-mail follows:

I get stuff like that in the mail from the place I bought my car from. Right in the shredder is where it winds up.

there was a recall for my car...

just goto http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/recallsearch.cfm and enter your info. they have to fix a recall for free.

sometimes they just want you in there to trade in your car. i also get stuff in the mail saying my warranty is expired and to call them asap. those are nrmally very vague.

I too get the warranty stuff all the time even though I have an extended warranty. That junk does go into the trash.

This is the first time the Dealer that services my car (not where I purchased it) has shot me an e-mail like this. If it is to seduce me there then I will find someplace else to have my LS worked on.

It looks like they will tell you what they can do to your car for free. But to actually do it will cost money.

They just want you to go in there to hopefully separate you from your money.

Yep, I was thinking both. Dirty Dealer! I know the economy is bad for car makers but ticking off your customers is not good business pratice.

As we all know and I am sure agree, we can do better mods to enhance the vehicle's performance or operation than they can (or will do) anyway!
