Is there a way to test/overide cooling fan?

I know on the gen 1 LS, they have a plug around the coolant crossover pipe on the driver's side, if you unplug it that should trigger the fan to high speed. Might be the same for you.

There are two ways that I know of.
1. A good scan tool, such as AutoEnginuity can be used to set the fan speed.
2. You can default the fan to max speed (failsafe) by disconnecting the control signal from the PCM. Sorry, I don't have my wiring diagrams at hand to tell you the wire color. There are four wires to the fan, two large (power & ground), and two small (electronics power & control signal). If electronics power is connected and on, and the control signal is missing, the fan goes to max speed.

You will know if your fan is running properly..
It will run pretty darned fast and you will beable to hear it. On top of that if you have your windows down and you floor it, you should beable to hear the fan kick on even higher due to higher RPMS.
If its running slow to you. and Not changing speed at all. then you need a new Hydraulic fan pump actuator 150$ from ford. Can only get it from a dealer. I did a write up on how to replace it.

He has a gen II with an electric fan. It's speed won't change when you floor it.

Silly meAre these wires on the same connection?
When i would sit in my car i remember hearing the fan cycle faster for about 30 seconds or so, then slow down every so often. I dont hear that anymore. After a long drive home in 97 degree weather i sat in my driveway and never heard it do that. I opened the hood and i put my hand behind the fan and you can feel "something", but its not loud and doesnt seem to change speeds, also the engine temp stays at 9 o'clock, so its not running hot. I'm still going down the route of airflow issue vs. a/c system.

My 04 & 06 each have one connector with four wires to the fan. I have seen some that have two connectors with two wires each to the fan.
The control wire is white with a black band. The connector is near the fan.
