Is air pump on its way out?

So just last weekend the driver side strut has started leaking. Only at a certain height does it leak, and unfortunately, the sweet spot is during highway driving when it's lower. I can also hear it 'hissing' sometimes but not all the time.

The last couple of days now, the air pump has been sputtering / clunking after about 20 seconds of operating. Car won't reach full height anymore.

Is this a domino effect from the leaking strut? Pump overworking/overheating? Is it doomed?

I may order a new strut from either Strutmaster or Arnott (same price).

Leaks will eventually wear out the pump.
