Hello fellas.

I was driving my LS today in the evening and I noticed that under hard acceleration (after about 5000 rpms) my instrument panel lights start going off/blinking and stay on only when the tranny shifts up. This happens when the lights are on. All of the other lights are fine (outside or interior lighting). I tried with stereo ON or OFF, it does the same thing.

I am thinking that it might be the alternator, also if it was the alternator then the battery light would be on or the other lights would do that too. Maybe some loose connector, but I have never removed the instrument panel so I don't think that anything could get loose by itself.

I do have one new alternater sitting at home, so it's not gonna cost me to change it, but I would like to see if anybody else has ever experienced something like this before and what was the problem.

My LS is 01 V6 with 109,000 miles.

Thanks.

Artur.

Do the 'ol battery disconnect/reconnect first...make sure that there aren't any wacky bugs. Then check for fuses that may be loose. Then move up to wiring. But if it's only when your beating up your enging (i.e. vibrating) then it is most likely a fuse/connector.

You may have to dig into the dash...it's not as bad as it sounds.

I am bringing back my old thread, because I found the solution to my problem.

Anyway, today I spent my afternoon changing my alternator and the driving belt. Few days ago I changed the battery, but the "blinking" was still present. The alternator took care of that problem. I have 112,000 miles on my car and this is the first time I am changing it.

While I was at the hood, I opened the upper and lower intake manifolds and cleaned them all. They were pretty bad looking, there was a lot of greas (spell) like dirt in them.

So, the car is running much better, I can feel the engine's power. It came back, the car feels just like the day when I bought it with 35,000 miles.

Just wanted to let you guys know what was the problem caused by and also I highly recommend cleaning your engines' intakes.

I did the same thing to my Mercury Mystique V6 about a month ago and it runs very good now.

Thanks FreeFaller for your help.

thanks for coming back to this thread and updating it. Allows others to learn from the whole experience.

so i have the same problem with my car what can i use to clean the intake or will any kind of degreaser work, what all would i have to take off.

Did you clean the inside of the throttle body? Also pulling the MAF sensor out and spraying it down to it clean once a year cant hurt.

yes me too

at 100k miles when I removed the manifold and throttle body, i did some serious cleaning with simple green and other degreasers to get all the carbon and gunk out. they were really black and sticky. clean, clean, clean.

i will have to replace all the gaskets correct, and hyelife, i did the search thing no-one knows how to use and found this which actually helped, i did replace the alrenater which helped im not haveing my problem anymore. but ithink i may still clean the intake if its not overly hard. do you guys know if any one has doen a right up on this , if not i may do one when i clean mine out.
