installing springs

Not an easy question to answer... but having a lift and air tools help. I've done it three times myself. All the bolts are easlily accessible. You have to peel back the trunk carpet to get the rears. A heavy-duty spring compressor will help, but you can use the inexpensive style ones and an air gun to compress the springs. Just have to be careful with all that tension on the springs. Fingers can come flying off if you're careless.

If you're going to do the springs, look into replacing the struts as well... if you're around 100K for mileage, it's makes sense to do this at the same time.

Ditto what Mike said, did mine last may and if you have two people it's much faster than trying to do it yourself. Lining up the top bolt on the strut to slide thru the top plate on the car is a bear to try to do alone.

Another option, if you don't have a spring compressor or don't want to mess with the springs, is to take the struts and new springs to a garage and have them remove/replace the springs on the struts for you.

Also don't forget to get a wheel alignment front and back when you reinstall the struts.

I would recommend replacing them. OEM shocks are fine replacements.

I believe that everyone that has gone aftermarket goes back to oem because they just work better. There are also 3 different styles of oem shocks. There is the stock, sports, and euros. I think most poeple are happy with the sports on a lowered ls.
