Hello LS folks,
I have a 2004 LS with the factory 6 CD and wanted to install the factory NAV system. Is this a plug and play? In other words, are the wiring harnesses installed like most modern cars and you just buy the parts and install?

I noticed the THX unit is a 6 CD and the standard unit is a single CD? Is the THX unit an all in one? Or does it use a separate DVD player mounted in the trunk? Where exactly in the trunk does the DVD mount?

Thanks for your replies, in advance.

No, the wiring is not in place. The nav head unit uses many of the same connectors as the other radios, but the connections are greatly different.

For a minimum install you need:
Wiring harnesses (several of them)
Nav head unit
Nav DVD trunk unit
Factory four channel amplifier (the nav head has no built in amplifier)
GPS antenna

For a complete install, you also need to add:
rear view mirror with microphone.
new steering wheel buttons.
sub-woofers and amplifier.
Replace all speakers (the THX nav speakers in the doors are different than what you have.)

Really, it is much easier to put in after-market nav.

it has been covered a thousand times, go with aftermarket, you will get so much more functionality(Ipod, bluetooth, voice rec, video...) for so much less money AND work

whoa dude, thats a hell of a deal, anybody that wants nav would have to be crazy to pass that up:eek:

BTW Tommy, a SRT 300, pulled up next to me at a light 2 or 3 nights ago, light went green and I blew his f$*%ing doors off, it was so awesome, even if he didn't know we were racing! lmfao

That's what I'm saying. Really don't know why I still have this damn thing sitting here.

LOL at the race :D

Ann arbor, mi?
Im down about 35-40 minutes from you, my mom has my LS up there all the time (I let her use it when she needs to, her lease on the escape was up, and I still have my 2 explorers)

yea, ann arbor MI, fo sho, i seen that you where local, your straight east from here right, near 75

Keeps the stock look. Great nav if already in it and people think its an easier/ better swap going stock than aftermarket till they come here and we tell them otherwise.
