Inside or Outside Door Handle Replacement

So my Drivers Door seems to be fussy at opening but has never failed me yet. Is replacing the Door Handle the solution most of the time? It opens fine from the inside so perhaps I need an Outside Door Handle?

when it doesn't open, are you 100% sure that it is actually unlocking? the actuator may be struggling and making the noise but not able to fully unlock the door.

Got two out of three LS'es that have slightly loose outside door handles but still in working order. It's a gentle operation opening and closing the doors. Also on the to-do-lists.

Also on the to-do-list for me. I have bought the front handles already though. So they are collecting dust until i get the wild hair to actually swap them out.

I take it they're not supposed to have vertical play when pulled out?

Yup, little wiggle room up and down on my Silver 01 and the wife's Black 03, not a pressing issue, just handle with care! < see what I did there?

It'll get to fixing them one of these days if the damn list(s) would ever stop growing constantly.

You know it's funny ... met a lad when I first bought my 01 LS some years back, he said to me: "Oh your going to love it, those are great cars!" .... He lied!

I gave the lock a spritz with the lithium grease and then ran a few errands today, making note to not lock the door. Don't know if I was imagining it or not but it may have been easier to open. I'm taking the Door Panel off later in the week to replace the Speaker so I'll get a better look, and give it another spritz of lithium from the inside.

I believe the actuator may be a little tired. If I unlock the doors with the remote, I can still insert the key and unlock it just a scosh more. After I unlock the door with the key, the handle seems perfectly fine.
