My 2000 TC just wouldn't start , it justs cranks ..... sprayed some brake clean in the air box. it fired up for a little .

So we put a new fuel pump in. but still won't fire. Replaced the fuel pump relay also

... I don't know what else it could it be

? inertia switch anyone know how to reset it?

Or and Ideas?

This is for 2000 Town Car .

Well on the Mark you just press the switch. Sure you did not blow an EDS fuse?

press the red button down.

why are you throwing parts at the car? test, find the problem, and correct this problem.

Unfortunately, throwing parts at the car will not fix it :P

First off, turn your key from off to run but do not start (radio off!). Do you hear a whir sound coming from the trunk area?
If so, there is voltage to the pump. Hook up a fuel pressure gauge and check the pressure after2 off->run ignition cycles.

If not, first thing to check is the fuse! Then check the inertia switch.

If no whir, pull the fuel pump relay and jump the #87 and #30 pins in the socket for just a moment with some wire. Is it whirring now? If so the problem is between the relay and PCM, whether wiring, loose socket, etc.

If nothing, check for voltage at the relay socket #30 pin. No voltage? Problem between socket and battery junction box.
There is B+? leave the terminals jumped and check for voltage at inertia switch connecto. If no voltage problem between relay and inertia switch. If B+ into the switch but none out it (the switch) is faulty (rare) or the connection is bad
If there is B+ in/out the inertia switch (backprobe connector with it plugged in) pull the fuel pump connector above the rear crossmember (you need to pop it out with a long screwdriver then disconnect) - jump the relay terminals again and check for voltage at the pump connector. If none problem between inertia switch and pump. If there is B+ wiring issue between connector and pump (check wiring on fuel pump hanger)

My guess is the crank sensor or cam sensor is bad. Unplug the crank sensor and plug it back in and see if it starts.

First Off Thanks For your Input.

My buddy had to get a code reader .

We figured that it wouldn't fire up unless we sprayed brake cleaner in the air box .
it had to be the fuel pump...... We have replaced 4 fuel pumps in the last month (on customers cars) .

Thanks Again, I am printing this out and taking it to the shop tonite.

Well that would explain it. Your anti-theft has activated and disabled the darn engine!

Whats you fuel pressure reading. That code could be fuel delivery related.

p0232 is "fuel pump secondary circuit high"

either the inertia is tripped or the fuel pump is unplugged. could also be a broken wire but i doubt it.
