OK, so heres the deal.

I have a low mile 96 engine and tranny (under 50K) in my garage. I am getting ready to put the engine on the stand to build, but I am not sure what for.

I currently only have a gen2, but I am thinking about buying a gen1 with 90K on it. I really like the Gen2, but its got 170K on it and I'm not sure I want to invest the time and money into a build for it. Plus the front end will probably need rebuilt this year.

The Gen1 I am looking at is in really good shape (black leather and moon roof that works), but its a 94. It probably will need a front end rebuild as well.

I'm not going to do alot to the build (how many times have I heard that on here) as the motor is really clean and was taken very good care of. What will I need to change on 96 motor to put it in my 97 if I go that way?

Thanks for your advice.

Not sure anything would need to be changed.

But you've got it on a stand, might as well make it worth your time... Comp cams at least... Swap to tumble-port heads... maybe forged rods/pistons... You know you want to!!!

You could also have your block resleeved and run a big bore 5.0L DOHC :-D Or if you're feeling really sick... big bore stroker... for a nice 5.2L displacement!!!
